joe1600 Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Bought one of those new mk1 Mexico wings a couple of months back, car has finally gone to the body shop were it has become apparent that the wing really does not fit! So I’ve decided to source a NOS or very good second hand Mexico drivers side wing. Anyone got one or knows of one for sale?? Any help would be much appreciated cheers

Any help would be much appreciated cheers I would say its the body shop not trying hard enough to fit it as theres always a problem fitting the os wing even gen ones.I've never seen the new ones they made and deal in panels myself but did ask people what they fitted like and they said the worst was the os wing to fit but got around it.you would prob have the same prob with any wing you buy.they have to make it fit these are old cars now and every body is different.

My o/s wing was terrible. The swage line was at least a 1/4 inch out and 15mm to short. Ended up getting fibreglass wings in the end
joe1600 Posted December 11, 2011 Author Report Posted December 11, 2011 The body shop have spent a good week messing with the wing trying everything to make it fit but it just ends up been too tight around the scuttle, almost like the wing is too long. Its just more cost effective to source another wing

Its just more cost effective to source another wing when i spoke to the last person about them they said the gap there was too large but if yours is too tight why dont they trim it back would'nt be that hard.
joe1600 Posted December 12, 2011 Author Report Posted December 12, 2011 The body shop have told me the cost of getting that wing to fit properly and look right would cost more to do than if i bought a good fitting wing. I know it sounds like a load of hassle but if it’s worth doing then it should be done properly

The drivers one I had was pants. 15mm too short and swage line was bent and about 8mm too low when compared to the door line.
