Panel fit pictures....

Can i be really cheeky and ask a favour off anyone who has or is currently rebuilding a mk1 escort

 

The picture i need is where the wing band panels fit and how i.e the replacement ones

 

And also where the rear of the front wings are welded too

 

 

So sort of this bit....

But a solid version

 

 

Need to be quick as were starting tomorrow morning on it

m8 your wings fit to what we call a flitch panel to the rear close to the bulkhead. the way i fit the wing rails is slide them over the old ones if you cant do that cut the flat part off then slide them over drill a couple of holes self tapper them in place mark it around the new panel then take it back off.cut the excess off leaving yourself enough to spotweld the new panel in place.I may have all these panels in stock looks like you might need splash shields aswell to me to do a good job.If you need the panels pm me and i'll have a look .

Forgot to say line everything up first as in your wings with the bonett ect before you tack everything into place

They suprisingly fit well (and around the struts), and have stopped quite a bit of rot

tom you cant weld the wings on over that lot. cut all the crap out and at least make some repair panels and weld it in

got my flitches on order, they should be here tomorrow according too Imperial, so we can crack on, get the wing bands on, then the flitches, then start patching a few bits for now Then got a bit on the slam panel to repair, then the front panel will go on

 

Then the hardest bit, getting the new mex wings to align

 

 

All should be done just after xmas

 

Then its off for paint

Bolt them on like I am. I got some thread inserts and some smart countersunk bolts and matching domed washers.

Looks like I may be into here on mine next year Keep updating with pics if you can as the panels go in so I have an easy reference for the work
