as some of you guys and gals know i have a 82 mk5 (80) cortina 16(at the mo) crusader.... dragged her out the nice warm garage this morning after her winter sleep. a bit of choke and she fired no problem (aint electronic ing great) let her warm up and took her round the block, forgetting the front subframe is only a inch off the ground...some sparks did fly, any way drove into my road she cut out, got her home took a plug out. no spark, ok so new plugs/leads/dizzy cap and arm. still no spark? ok new coil....still no bloody spark!cleaned all earths and all wires are still in good nick, BUT STILL NO SPARK! any ideas?

no power any where in the system but years ago a friend had the same problem im not sure but i think it was something todo with ignition switch????? could that be right?

just had a simular problem with my mk2 tina , my mate came round tested coil ,

only getting 8.5 volts on one side of coil turned out that it was electronic ignition at fault.

fitted new dizzy with points cars fine now

this is what had happened after going through the system again i found ign switch wire shorting on the body so fixed that then tested coil and that was very weak and was producing a intermittent spark so the coil was up the sh!t but the spark was enough to test the dizzy and leads but no spark at the plug end,even with the points back in i had a idea what it was but needed to get on the blower to powerspark, what had happened was a coil can die 2 ways it can go weak then just stop working.....or like my car short out, wich blew the powerspark unit. so now i have a new performance coil uprated cap and arm and new powerspark unit and leads all from the nice guys from powerspark, didnt realy need the other bits but as it was rustys birthday i thought why not, for a little 1.6 she runs like a champ :party: but i cant wait to put the zetec in when it warms up abit...thanks again for your help
