Type 9 - speedo cable Q

Hi,

 

Hoping someone can help with another question:

 

Securing a speedo cable to a type 9 gearbox required a circlip such as below:

Where do these go exactly? The cable I've recently bought appears to have no 'groove' in it to retain the cable.

The groove is in the gearbox mate for the circilp to fit into

[GJUK]

sneaky bastards.

These cars should come with a rebuilding document etched in to the roof!
