dancressy Posted March 23, 2012 Report Posted March 23, 2012 Can anyone tell me which wheel nuts I need for these, for capri (m12x1.5) They are the original Two Gates wheels, not replicas. The revolution style shafted ones aren't correct, and lazer type capri ones aren't right either. Have tried to search in various places but can't get an answer. Anyone have a picture/link/measurements I can have a peek at? Didn't really know where else to put this sorry if its in the incorrect place..
Admin Vista Posted March 23, 2012 Admin Report Posted March 23, 2012 I'm guessing you need metric M12 taper nuts with a 60 degree chamfer.

Could it be these? It looks like there should he some kind of sleeve on the nut, jut no where near as long as the revolution kind. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SET-16-CHROME-ALLOY-WHEEL-NUTS-M12X1-5-FORD-FLAT-SEAT-/200487366118?_trksid=p4340.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DDLSL%252BSIC.NPJS%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BUA%26otn%3D10%26pmod%3D150631042175%252B150631042175%26po%3D%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7203833579353602831#ht_1520wt_1277
Admin Vista Posted March 23, 2012 Admin Report Posted March 23, 2012 Whilst the same thread, those are very different kinds of nut. On the first set the wheel is centred on the studs by the action of the taper centralising the wheel as it sits in the taper seat in the wheel. The taper also holds the wheel tight against the hub. On the second, the wheel is centred by the shank going through the hole in the wheel and the washer tightening against the flat wheel face holds the wheel tight to the hub. I suggest you post up a close up of your wheels showing the hole that the wheel bolts must go through. It should be obvious from that whether you need taper nuts or washer nuts.
dancressy Posted March 23, 2012 Author Report Posted March 23, 2012 THese wheel had been in the garage for a while and I hadnt lmooked at them for a bit. I just went and had a look and I'd say you were right in the first place. The wheel is indeed tapered in the nut hole. For the last couple of months I could have sworn they were flat faced. Thats alot of brain ache gone now!
