gearbox100 Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 what are peoples opinions of painting under the car, body colour or black? I am going to prime it them stone chip but then wondered what others think looks best? Its a mk1 escort btw and i`m not building a show winner or anything, just a solid useable car.

My car was painted the same colour under it. Half of me kind of wishes that it had a thick slab of underseal to keep it rust free but I guess if I ever sell it, it looks nice. The next one I build won't be quite to this standard and more of a road slag kind of build
gearbox100 Posted April 21, 2012 Author Report Posted April 21, 2012 thats what i was sort of thinking, stone chip then loads of waxoyl to stop the rust. Its not going to be anywhere near as nice as yours gjuk i also live up miles of rough country roads so will also get very dirty .

Soon as mines on the road I will be driving it how it was meant to. Paint or not. I would go with the underseal looks, take photos before you do it to show the good shell in case you sell it yeah.
Bigfish Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 i have not long done mine, used POR15 has a good reputation, no need to prime can be painted direct. went on with purpose, and its meant to be resistant to pretty much eveything. they use it on a lot of marine applications. there are a few colours avalible i went for black. looks smart you can get it from FROST's
gearbox100 Posted April 22, 2012 Author Report Posted April 22, 2012 I will look into the POR15, cheers
