deltamal Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 Iv'e had the rims on my Revo 5 spokes polished, what's the best way to protect them? they are 30 years ish old so lacquer would not last very long before they pitted again, any ideas? (apart from polishing twice a week!)
banarama Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 think thats the only way mate. polishing them.
Tom Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 I used to use diamond brite 2 part car wax on mine mate. Lasts and protects for ages but you still need to wipe the dust off at the end of a drive. Either that or pledge
FBF Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 When i used to have shiny rims, i would coat in wd40 each time i put the car away, then wipe off when i took the car out, yeah its effort but keeps them nice for years, im sure oil soaks in to metal over time too
deltamal Posted April 29, 2012 Author Report Posted April 29, 2012 Thanks for the feedback guy's, I will have to experiment! used Rimwax in the past but it doesn't last long before they start pitting, I can see the WD working as it would soak into the pores of the ally, will have to try it
SebringRS Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 WD seems the best idea Might use that on my RS4's, wont shine them, but i just use T-Cut metal polish for that We had some american wheel dirt repelent that worked for a week or so It puts like a wax layer over the wheel and repels brake dust and dirt, not sure if that would work, or even if its available over here
Fiesta Steve Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 I used Asda furniture wax. I polishes them and coats them in wax, and wax does a very good job of repeling water. But you will need to do it regular.
