Help running problems

Got escort MOTed today so 1st time I've used it and on way home kept cutting out like ignition was being turned off. Rev counter dies as does engine. Does anybody have any ideas. I've put new plugs rotor arm dizzy cap and leads.

Check fuses and the round bulkhead plug, also battery terminals and earths for bad connection.

Yeah I'll check them ordered a new coil aswell today just to be safe. I've noticed that wire that goes into middle of starter solenoid is quite loose would that be a problem?

I bought some spark plugs from ebay advertised for a MK1 escort crossflow but they kept cutting out and would only start again when it cooled down and eventually 2 stopped working altogether. Went back to the ones I took out as they weren't really worn and had no problems since. Just a thought.

Put new coil on today and still keeps cutting out and when I try start there is no spark then try again and it starts. So it keeps loosing spark and I've replaced most common things do ignitions play up.

Yes it's got electronic ignition

Are you running a direct 12v feed to the possitive on the coil from your ignition?

I'll have to check that out as it was fitted to the car when I bought it. So there should be 12v going to coil when ignition is on

Ok mate cheers I'll have a look but it's a intermittent fault so don't do it all the time
