Apparently they use the escort td engine with a cossy turbo, massive boost, front mount, something out of a transir diesel pump (governer i think) and increased fuel pressures. Im planning on shoving in my 100e

No shaun, i baught it off retro rides last year but its sat on my dads drive atm till i get decent amounts of time to do abit of work on it. im gunna use the escort td engine with them mods mentioned when i get round to it.

You thinking of doing it to your escort?

They fit loads of Diesels over there, but they tend not to use antifreeze which buggers the alloy heads up, as i found with my toyota Td that came from there.

This was a mk1 escort i nearly bought with the fiesta lump fitted:

so savvi, ur saying they don't run antifreeze and just running water messes them up, or the antifreeze messes them up?lol

wow good power from a diesel, guess when they get that modded they in't no better than petrol for MPG and just as easy to break...

something to think about tho isn't it..

nahh escort staying zetec :ykt: just having a think about another project on the way - something different :-)

They dont use antifreeze, which although obviously stops the water freezing in the winter here, they dont need over there cos of the nice weather, problem is antifreeze also has properties to stop inernal corrosion more so on alloy heads.

By not using it the waterways get enlarged and wear the alloy away.

This was mine fitted, i did drive it and it went very well with the type9 5 speed, however it was short lived as it overheated when i ran it for a while and pressuized the system

Yes we do, but there's plenty of people (as with anywhere else for that matter) with an "anything goes" policy that just pour tap water in the radiator, more and more so if the water vanishes from the rad every odd week and never bother to check the thing
