  1. P.s. There was no relation to mix-matching parts. I am trying to match brake cylinders to the master cylinder. As I was told at the local car part dealers that there was different sizes available for the same car. I now have the correct part. The other question was for info on why different master cylinders were plumbed up differently as they look the same. Nobody replied with any info on their capris or escorts
  2. Hi rally pack, Do you have a picture of how your master cylinder is plumbed in? The orange tags relate to a 2.8 master cylinder which is 20.6mm
  3. Thank you rally pack 2000 that is the most helpful post I've see in a while. Yeah mine are twin and will be using the twin ones, the measurement seems to relate to the size of the master cylinder piston not the piston size on the brake cylinders as many different sellers putting different sizes on their products for the same cars. Well instead of searching for what was in there I now realised that I have a Capri servo master cylinder with orange tags so going to match that. My motor is real heavy as the axle is on a mk2 consul so will need the right brake cylinders. After a quick search it seems it was from a 1.6-2.0l mk3 Capri with a 20.6mm piston. So my two questions are; 1. What size brake cylinders do I need and is this correct as the stamp on the side of the casting sais girling74660294.4.Q312 and I believe the tags to be orange. And 2. The capri's I have seen have the two further outlets plumbed to the front brakes and the single outlet closest to the servo to the rear. Now my mk2 escort has the closest split using t piece to the front brakes then the 2 furthest away, one goes to rear brakes and one has a bleed nipple. Which is recommended for a heavy car?
  4. Checked the ones in my other escort and the diamiter is 12mm so different again lol
  5. Rear brake cylinders. Sorry was tired beyond belief last night.
  6. Hi guys, long time since I've been here. Looks like a lot has changed. My problem is that I have a rear axle from a ford escort with 9inch drums. Now putting new master cylinders in and trying to make sure they are correct as there are a choice of 2 different ones. The ones I have taken out don't have a slit in for the shoes and are around 14.5mm diameter piston. Now the rs and ghia ones I have looked at are 17mm or 19mm. Can anyone help explain what to buy?
  7. Very true bigbubba
  8. Or just visit youtube and watch roadkill episodes! I got addicted an watched all 21 I could find in 2 evenings
  9. You my friend most likely would lol How's the new one going? It is very true the anxiety buzz of breaking down is half the fun but with these old fords there's nothing like the great feeling of satisfaction cracking out the spanners at the side of the road an limping the ol girl home an knowing you did it. For the summer drivers this is the time to get everything up to scratch ready for the summer you know it'll be worth it when cruising along the motorways on the way to the best shows of the year
  10. Mk2 escort 1600 ghia 1977 Consul farnham estate 1961 Not bad as I've only owned 3 cars
  11. Nice info, would be nice to see some conversions people have done putting seatbelts in osf's that didn't have any
  12. I love vans, estates and more doors the most as they are always so different. Went to a show a year ago an every car there was the same an standard. Maybe a set of minilites here an there but I like to see lots of different things at a show. People seem to still warrant doing something different weather it's engine, colour or style wise. An I do love standard arches
  13. We say about not letting in the newer fords but I'd really like to see some of the older models joining in too. Anyone on here got something older than like zephyrs, consuls, pops, or import cars (America or Australia)????
  14. I've done whatever my insurance company sais I'm covered for Daily driver an done plenty of miles, haven't a clue how many tho :-/ never count.
  15. Hi thrashermax sounds like a similar situation there. I can see my escort being tidied up an not used for a long time if the consul is enjoyable to drive. (That's hopefully what I'm building it to be like). It really has had some stick so deserves a little rest and tlc. This winters not gonna do it any favors tho
  16. Btw, how many times have you been pulled up by police in it lol
  17. As I have said chubba, I love it!!!! Short ovals were where I first loved osf's an they really did shine there so really nice to see that inspiration on a road car!!! That would be something else rwd with big power pinto in it
  18. Love the style of that mk1 with gold wheels, is it green?
  19. Liking the ideas you guys have, I love seeing work taking place by what I call home built hero's. restorations, modifications and short oval racing. Would be nice to compare modern to old even more if there is a modified old one also Legalities would be nice to be aired also as people never get told what they can change and how to do it legally (including trailor tests) factual, intelligent and seeing the work done!!!! Different groups each week would be good, ford, vw, vauxhall, hotrods? Would be nice to be similar set up each week so we know what to look forward to an maybe going to see some nice cars (like a magazine feature on tv?) or builds in progress? No drama!!!! If I want that I'd watch whatever crap the Doris puts on or American hotrod
  20. I'm gutted, haven't seen anything. Slightly windy up here over night but was hoping for some fire wood to be available
  21. I don't know who the owner is but seen a pic of it an love it!!!!! Proper smart idea an really looks the part!
  22. Duratec turbo'd? Lol
  23. Ratchet strap from rear axle to crossmember? Would save some movement surely?!?? Calipers an drums off an your pumped up 4spokes on done
