So, I took the Peugeot 106 (P reg, 1.1) for it's annual MOT at the local testing station on Saturday (expecting lots to be wrong with it as I only paid £400 for it back in January as a run around). Well, it failed on 1 numberplate light  and emissions with an advisory on the two front tyres on 2.0mm with the legal limit of 1.6mm.

.

so .... off we go to Halfords, bought a bulb and fitted it. Took the after market cone filter off and put back on the original fitment and took it for a free re-test on Monday. Failed on emissions again  with a slightly worse reading than before :banghead::banghead:

.

Then I took it to a local guy as the garage where I took it were talking about new cat's sealing up valves and all sorts of stuff that sounded expensive!

.

Local guy plugs it onto his machine (after running the car up and down the road and really warming it up) and it passes easily on the emmissions so I put it through another MOT with him

.

Car passes but with different advisories :?:? This time it was still tyres near to the limit but it was also rear beam something or other (don't have the info to hand  ) and handbrake at only 56% ....

.

At least I have the ticket for another year now but I thought the MOT test was a standard list of things to check ... how can two different stations find different problems??? :banghead::banghead:

They are human, what more can I say. I find exactly the same taking pupils up for their driving tests. I sit in the back and cannot believe the variation in the examiners markings even though things are supposed to be black or white with them.

If the original tester had warmed the car up the same, his emissions test should read exactly the same, the only variant is the tester  each one will have their pet hates and focus more on that. Tis frustrating :banghead:
