DIY tubs using oil drum?

is it a cheap alternative? could it actually work?

 

what is the possibility of sticking larger tubs in the back of the escort to accept 15" wheels by cutting the ends off an oil drum as opposed to spending silly money on the kits on fleebay

I'm sure I've seen photos on here somewhere of a guy in NZ who was doing something similar with a mk1 or 2 van

Thats pretty much exactly what i was hoping to achieve

 

Gotta be worth a try to save over £200 buying the tubs

 

does it actually need larger tubs in the first place though or can you just get away with doing something like this but with the original tubs
