1800 turbo diesel won't stop

So my mate is having this problem where his 1800 turbo diesel won't stop an having to stall it. Relay problem or solenoid within the fuel pump? He believes the problem is within the fuel pump..... Any ideas guys?

If its the same as the earlier 1.6 pump it is indeed a stop solenoid, but also check the small rod that sits underneath said solenoid, as they have been known to fall out (if solenoid is removed) thus preventing shut down.

Ok just as I thought. How easy is it to swap over? Just a big adjustable?
