The above car on pistonheads is for sale, le mans green, I'm trying to find out any info on it but seem to be drawing a blank.

I'm interested in it but it's a million miles away so popping over for a butchers isnt an option to find out its a turkey!!

Is anybody familiar with the car or is there anything you can spot from the pics that would suggest anything good or bad.

I can see the obvious bits, studs in boot floor, strut tops etc.

I can see it has mk2 alloys and crap mirrors

Can anyone shed any light or see anything else?

It's about 6 hours away and don't want a wasted journey, I also don't know how to put up a link, sorry! It's on PH in the escort section

Think Tim may help if you asked nicely, he has for me in the past, although if your serious about getting one i'd join up as they have a selling section and alot of the nice cars are only advertised and sold on there or via the club.

Please don't take this the wrong way.

I have travelled from one end of the country to the other to look at a £500 car.

Spending that money and the chance it may be fake, I would have to spend the whole day looking at it.

I have had owners refuse to sell me a car, just because I was spending far to much time trying to find all defects, sellers tend to get the hump when you find every fault with their pride and joy.

If it is real then it's worth the extra effort, having said that it's worth thr extra effort if it's a wrongun.

I read somewhere that the yellow one isn't a type 49 shell, the stripes would have to be put right, although its nice with the contour seats and alloys etc. wouldn't be too hard to change the stripes and glovebox I suppose.

The green ones needs some steels and those mirrors ripping off lol!

I'm in no desperate need, I should bide my time really and wait for the right one to come along, besides I still have the GT at the mo which i should be sensible and sell first! When the engine for the GT is finished I'll sell and get the mex I should have got in the first place lol!

Problem is ............... they all say its a genuine type 49 shell, nothing against that one but theres lots of them out there been re-shelled.

You could try Russ (Stringpants on the other channel) or speak to Trev at stage 1 and see if he's about to look at one for you ?

Yeah I know mate, it was a comment made on seriesoneturbo.

Yellow one has a pinto too. Don't get me wrong I love modded cars with different engines etc ( I have one lol!) but I do like an rs to have the right sort of engine, don't ask me why but a mk1 mex should have a xflow
