5tox Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 Ive just purchased the diy spray gun so i can protect the inside of my chassis rails on my mk1 escort, they have recently been repaired and i want to protect them before they start going rusty should i use the hammerite waxoyl or shutz? is there much differeence? the hammerite stuff says it also kills rust
leecccmk1 Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 Put some etch primer on bare metal if poss mate then waxoyl
Escort Mk1 4 Door Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 id krust them first then waxoil or even maybe rubberised stoneguard
Rookie Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 Have a look at this stuff, "Fertan" ,it's used on boats.
iandq Posted January 21, 2013 Report Posted January 21, 2013 I used to swear by waxoyl, but have found like everything else these days it has gone down hill badly, I have just finished rebuilding and painting the shell of my Anglia and have given the whole thing a treatment with dinitrol, I bought a 3 can kit with the applicator gun for under 50 quid and I can't recommend it highly enough. just don't apply any wax treatments until you have finished painting. cheers, ian.
