monkeymoreton Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 My 2.0 pinto keeps shorting out between the negative terminal and the ht terminal. Is it due to the coil being nakered or have I a bad earth or something ??
welshmike Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 Could be a knackered HT lead? Does the engine still run ok? not missing on a cylinder or anything?
monkeymoreton Posted February 5, 2013 Author Report Posted February 5, 2013 Its missing ive tried different ht leads no different and I tried a coil off a efi pinto and that did the same
welshmike Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 have a peek inside your dizzy cap for anything obvious, cracks, broken contacts etc or swap it if you have a spare. Then inspect your spark plugs, you should be able to see from the plugs wich cylinder is missing aswel.
katana Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 Do you mean the neg coil terminal and the HT tower on the coil? If so - sounds like a cracked coil allowing tracking to earth (neg term.)
monkeymoreton Posted February 5, 2013 Author Report Posted February 5, 2013 thats what i think it is all will be revealed tomoz as i have coil plugs leads on the way
monkeymoreton Posted February 5, 2013 Author Report Posted February 5, 2013 yer i need to up there as i need wheel bearings and maybe diff bearings doing lol i've done 1,500 miles recently in it back n fro to crawley
monkeymoreton Posted February 6, 2013 Author Report Posted February 6, 2013 All fixed runs sweet as now BOA next
monkeymoreton Posted February 7, 2013 Author Report Posted February 7, 2013 i think it was the coil the leads were the shite as well as it had running problems recently now it's running the smoothest since i've had the only thing i mite need to keep a eye on is the accuspark leads are a tight fit round the plugs so mite jump off
