you will have a job finding them i think. i assume you mean the push through from the inside type? i will keep my eyes open for you

Yep they're the ones, they stick out, appreciate it if you could.

Can i use the centres like bigbadsquare suggests as a temporary measure?

Not sure which ones he has, do you have a link? If they're mk2 ones and you have mk1 wheels, then no as they're a different size

Those are your wheels? What's the part no on them and what size is the hole in the centre?

I ask as the bottom right wheel looks to have the correct part no and width for a mk1 RS wheel (5.5J) but a smaller centre hole. It should be 70mm to take the type of cap that pushes through from behind

I'll have to take a look, i was told when purchasing that they were original with the push through centre, i can take a look tonight and measure

Hmmmm, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they're in fact the mk2 JPS capri rims and someone has machined off the extra -C that denotes them on the end of the part no (JPS wheel part no is H71AB 1007AC -C). Mk1 RS wheels should have a 70mm hole in the centre

look at the pic below, on the right is a mk1 RS wheel and the left a JPS wheel, they're identical but for the centre hole size and part number

There's a guide to RS wheels in the how to room if you want to download it and have a read

Oh b*llocks........ i'm going to stop buying second hand stuff, always goes wrong for me. What shall i do about bloody centres now. Are mk2 capri ones obtainable

Well that's £400 down the drain! Can't exactly drive round without centres

Panic not. get some correct centre caps and take them to a competent machine shop and they should be able to machine out the centres to fit your caps then no-one will be able to tell the difference.

Okay, what a load of faff, turning out to be expensive for wheels that aren't even correct. Still get the push through from the back ones?

I've asked the person that sold them to me for an explanation, just wait for a reply.......f*ck sticks, that'll teach me to be trusting

If you want them to look right on a MK1 AVO car then yes.

The AVO club used to sell reproduction push through centre caps (though I don't know if they still do). You have to join the club to buy from them but it's worth a phone call to their parts guy

Okay, I've got over my initial rage :-)

Spoke to the chap that sold them too me, he bought them off of someone 5 years ago, never used them. He's a decent enough chap and I don't think he would have done it intentionally.

You paid quite a premium for them but they'll still look great on your car and with the centres machined out will be indistinguishable from mk1 RS wheels anyway. I wouldn't get too down about it.

Just had another thought, will the bolts from my Mk1 Steelies be okay with the new wheels or do I need to buy a different kind? I've been recommended metal Compomotive push through centres as a temporary measure while I try and track down some RS centres and then get the wheels machined down

Not sure about mk1 4 spokes but mk2 4 spokes have flat shoulders on needing matching nuts. What do yours have? Aren't steels tapered holes? If so you'll need nuts. eBay or midland wheels do them.
