Type 9 gearbox reverse problem

My box goes into reverse so easily you can't tell if you are in 1st or reverse and it won't be long before a hit the car behind when I try to pull away! Anyone know how I can cure it? Thanks

hi mate, repair your gear lever.or get another, you are supposed to push down against spring pressure to allow the lever to clear the detent block and engage 5th. it sounds like your lever os 'down' all the time.
