Lotus steels

Just found out that weller wheels are remaking the lotus steel wheels, they don't seem to bad £80 each and they are 7j,

Just wondered if anyone has brought any to find out what they are like

I'd heard of someone making these but didn't know if was going to come off as that was about 18mths ago !!!

Very nice but they don't come with hub caps can not even see an option on there page to purchase them as an extra. can just see these looking so good on an 100E or Anglebox

I was thinking about getting some for my escort being 7j they should have a nice lip on them it says the inside is the same as standard

You can get brand new hub caps on eBay £84 for a set of 4

I was looking at these for my mk2 cortina. Have you got a link to the hub caps on eBay? What size tyre would be best to fit?

I put the same post up about 2 months or so back, they were only offering the 5.5 j's then. I am thinking of going for a set of 6's for my Anglia, I have loked at so many sets of 'genuine' lotus steels now and have come to the conclusion that most people are being duped into paying lotus money for well, frankly a pile of rusty rubbish. in my opinion, these wheels look the same, come painted, are new rims so will run true, and for less than you would pay for a rusty 40 year old ford wheel that needs to be blasted and refinished but may also be fatigued or bent or both. I am still waiting to see a set on a car, but the more I think about it I am probably going to bite the bullet and get some. the only drawback I can see is that you have to run them with hubcaps as the centres are just plain discs, whereas the old ford steels look just as good with the hubcaps off and the nuts exposed. go get some I say!

I was think inking the same why buy old ones that might not be straight or might be pitted for the same sort of money plus if you wanted 7js you'd have to get them banded

Yes they should fit fine as for tyres I'd say something like 185/60 I think 175/50 would be to small on a cortina

This topic had come up on 105Speed about a year ago. Theres more photos of how it looked back then. No idea if it has been improved or not since

hi, that's what I meant about the centres, fine with caps, not so good without, but the originals look good both ways.
