crapichris Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 think it has got to the stage that the old arthritus is getting the better of me and I may have to consider a more comfortable ride. The old Capri is just to much for me now - no power steering, heavy clutch, getting out of the damn thing. As for maintenance - that can only be done on good days and they are getting less and less each month now. So if I sell what is a reasonable late 2.0s going for ? No rust, new wings, all welded up, new brakes, refurbed wheels, 4-2-1 manifold and 2 1/4 inch exhaust sytem and K&N filter. Ideally needs a respray but ok if you don't look too close. Told by a local classic car garage worth around £2500. Appreciate your help.
macford Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 Without pics.? Best to look on fleebay, gumtree And see what they sell for,try and find one in the condition yours is in As said what they SELL for,not much the seller wants,
Benjy✌ Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 A shame to hear! Especially with you having it for so long! This car is deffo worth the money! Its a good solid car! Time for a cossie then chris?
mk2xflow Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 never give up my friend ,just keep taking the pills , don't sell it
crapichris Posted July 13, 2014 Author Report Posted July 13, 2014 had thoughts about one with power steering or even having mine mod'd but doesn't get through the other issues of working on it. And to me being able to work on it is one of the plus's of owning an OSF. Shame but definately got F.O.R.D. stamped all the way thru me like a stick of rock. Don't think this arthritus is gonna get any better and only puting of the inevitable me thinks
macford Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 There's a mk1 fiesta for sale on here Easier to get out of and the wheels where thin do didn't need power steering But I know what you mean about working on them, that's the fun,and you feel better when you fix it yourself
crapichris Posted July 20, 2014 Author Report Posted July 20, 2014 the quack has confirmed that getting in and out of Capris just ain't any good for me anymore. As for working on them - LET'S NOT GO THERE!. So the Capri is up for sale very very reluctantly in the sale section. Been into Capris for near on 20 years, having owned a mint 1.6 laser, and then the oldest Mk1 on the road (Jimbo bought that off me), and then the 2.0S that is now for sale. Also when I was younger owned an Anglia as my first car and a Mk2 Cortina back in the 80's. Enjoyed working on them and driving them but both is becoming a chore and whn the old bones are at their worst impossible so time to hang up the the furry dice
Blimey Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 Get another Cortina ,Plenty people would help with maintenance on here bud
