No power starter solenoid?

My mk2 escort 2.0 pinto wasnt running well so ive fitted a new manifold gasket and cleaned the carb.

Fitted everything back on and conected the battery. Nothing no power atall. Its like theres no battery.

Ive checked and theres power going to the starter big red live wire. Could the solenoid on the starter be causing this? When i took the manifold off coolant ran out and may have splashed on the starter. Battery was disconected.

If it is the solenoid would i need a new starter?

Have you tried taking the terminals off and giving them a good clean with emery cloth?

is the earth strap connected? it may have been on one of your manifold bolts?

Sorted it. The thin live wire had come off the battery terminal conection and fallen under the battery tray doh!!
