pnwrs2000 Posted October 13, 2014 Report Posted October 13, 2014 Who's the best person / company to do a full restoration on a mk2 escort ? I don't know of their work but http://www.restore-a-ford.co.uk/index.html and http://www.theescortagency.net/ are the only ones I know of. Has anyone got any opinions about these two and any other places ??? Cheers
Admin Vista Posted October 13, 2014 Admin Report Posted October 13, 2014 I've not used either so can't really comment, the first place gets positive reviews though. What sort of geographical area are you looking at? Unless you're looking at upgrades / mods that non specialists might not be familiar with, I wouldn't limit your search just to places that specialise in Fords. At the end of the day, replacing rusty metal then repainting and reassembling is a task that any accomplished classic restorer can take on
pnwrs2000 Posted October 13, 2014 Author Report Posted October 13, 2014 I'm ooop north in Lancashire but would go anywhere in the UK as long as the work is good. Hadn't really thought about non ford restorers tbh but you've got a point. Cheers 1
Admin Vista Posted October 13, 2014 Admin Report Posted October 13, 2014 Just had some work done by this place and was very pleased with the attention to detail and standard of work. Deltamal had his mk3 Cortina repainted there too. Very long way from Lancashire though. http://www.amrestorations.co.uk/
v8cortina Posted October 13, 2014 Report Posted October 13, 2014 I have seen quite a few of the Escort Agency customers cars. They are truly awesome. No idea of pricing but you get what you pay for.
pnwrs2000 Posted October 14, 2014 Author Report Posted October 14, 2014 Vista - lovely van and looks like some nice work AM Restorations have done for you. V8cortina - I spoke to Martin at EA earlier this year as I was very tempted after looking at his website and speaking to him. The only snag was the £25k price tag....! I know its a case of getting what you pay for and im 100% behind that philosophy but I must admit that sort of figure (especially as the real figure is more like £30k+ when you factor in the cost of the car itself) did shock me a little bit
mk2 matt Posted October 15, 2014 Report Posted October 15, 2014 you could try dave at historicmotorsport , he does some great work but again a long way from you as hes in exeter
Blimey Posted October 15, 2014 Report Posted October 15, 2014 You anywhere near Castleford mate? Craig Watton is based there .he can do it all to a very high standard he does healetmys lotus Cortinas etc
skeeter Posted October 15, 2014 Report Posted October 15, 2014 Whilst some may think it wrong, I think the better option is to find the car you want that somebody else has restored already. Unless you have deep pockets it is money you will never see back. Maybe an unfinished project with the major structural work done? If you want to restore a car I think the only way it works is if you are doing lots of the work yourself. Just my view S
