Hi All,

I'm new on here so please be gentle!

Someone has just sent me this vin number of a Mk1 they have for sale but it doesn't seem to correspond with the various ID websites out there?

Can anyone help, the number he sent me is:- CHPM4200i00MP

Thanks

sorry, I can't help on this one as I don't know where Maltese cars were built in the first place. We do have a few Maltese members who may be able to help but what info is it you're looking for?

Maltese cars should have the same VIN as UK cars. Both my mk1 and mk2 escorts have the usual VIN  with 11 characters, starting with BB (Halewood) and the last 5 digits which should match the engine number. IMO, that's not an escort VIN.

I thought that would be the case as Maltese Escorts were built in the UK weren't they? Dunno, South African / Australian built car maybe? Or have they perhaps quoted the body plate no instead of the chassis no? Not so familiar with the layout of those
