rx8 6 speed gearbox

has anybody put one of these gearboxes on a zetec rwd conversion .there is a guy on ebay selling conversion plates to fit these .I want to get as much info. as I want to put this combo in a 105e .apparently the rx8 gearbox has the same dimensions as a type 9 .help would be greatly appreciated

It's worth looking at the ratios and using your wheel/tire size + diff ratio to if you gain anything

I think the Mazda 5 speed box has better ratios

I've fitted one into my mk1 escort today

Gearbox bolted up fine with the plate , off p9cyo had to do some cutting out

Haven't tried the propshaft yet or the starter , going to fit large gearbox tunnel

Just got make a gearbox mount.

I will try and get some pics

eBay link please, after reading that turbosport threat I am interested in one for my turbo'd V6 which has strange noises ( klink & klonk ) coming out of the T9. Till now I always looked the other way and sayed did you hear something ???
Might source an RX8 gearbox down while I am over to the UK for the Classic Ford Show.

the mazda mx5 6 speed is the one with a close ratio gears the 5 speed isn't as close unsure of the rx8 ratios

i'm looking at the rx8 box too.

ratios are

1st 3.760 
2nd 2.269 
3rd 1.645 
4th 1.187 
5th 1.000 
6th 0.843 

 

Dazb let us know what starter your using and if it works.

Hi, i have done this conversion in my mk2 escort and it is great. My friend has done it in his mk2 xe powered road rally car too. I make the cnc adaptor plates if you are interested. I haven't had one complaint and i only take the money if i have stock to send out the next day.
