There used to be an 1/8 mile drag track set up at an old airfield at Dunkerswell near Honiton, a local American car club based in Exeter set it all up, cleared it with police and residents, had some fun there! well organised as well, but it was open to all and the plastic boy's were racing each other through the villages on their way home, of coarse it was banned!

I received  a letter from Essex police today informing me that my vehicle  ' was seen  on the evening of sunday 30th august 2015 in the lakeside area' which leads them 'to believe it was involved in or associated with street racing and/or anti social behaviour on west Thurrock way'.As part of operation wagtail the police are increasing patrols in the area and taking a zero tolerance to all offences,so minor traffic offences such as fog lights on,illegal number plates and poor parking will be dealt with by a fixed penalty notice or summons to court.they are also using officers in plain clothes to check cars.

Needless to say I was in the area for perfectly legitimate reasons, but my worry is that once they have clocked your numberplate and start sending you letters at home how long until you start getting targeted for spot checks everywhere you go?

i went to Johns meet at jollys  i have been going for years  b 4 it was at jollys as well   people do stand and video the cars coming out but that does not mean you have to do a burn out etc  your car wil still be put on you tube or what ever and yes my car can do burnouts with ease  i did leave but just driving in a calm manner but i will take it to pod and most of all like kenny says go on a tour  like snowdonia or lakes etc were you really do get to drive your car on great  roads  as with all these things a FEW people ruin it for every one else and then they will kill the scene  i love my cars and love driving it but its meeting and the laughs and friends that keep us here  just behave not that hard

I am  58 years old, a Capri owner for the last 18 years, an OSF fan since I was 17, and one of the original Southend Cruisers back in the early 70s. Burn outs were happening at  Southend, Chelsea, etc., back in the 70s so why weren't the perpetrators stamped on back then?

I used to go the the Ace but, frankly, I got thoroughly embarrassed by the behaviour of some of the so called Ford enthusiasts. I stopped going because not only did I not want to associate with these muppets, I was scared someone was going to get hurt.  I still see idiots burning out as they leave my local shows and it still embarasses me. I agree it is not just us Ford owners or for that matter any classic car owners, this is a pandemic with all powerful car owners. If you want to go bonkers get on a track. Plod catches you and it will cost you  more than the £25 it costs for track time.

The roads are a dangerous place these days, just look at the carnage this week in my area around the M1 and M25. Our older cars are not designed with crumple zones and safety areas like modern cars so think of yourself and then think again.

And before anyone comments about my age - I can still misbehave - on the track though!
