Camcoat for long lasting but costs over £200. On my Cortina, I had it sandblasted and then (Making sure no human hand touched the surface) Painted it with Satin Black Bbq paint. Worked a treat! Mrs wasn't happy when I tried to fit it in the oven though... So it air dried. Loomed good even after a few 1000m

Satin BBQ paint, gonna give that a try, nowt to lose as a quick fix...

It really works by ideally, you need it blasted first or it might just flake off. I bunged my local sandblaster £10 and he did it in his lunchbreak
