English axle wanted near 46 inches

Need an English as close to 44 or 45 inches complete with shafts to replace the fostek baby atlas with only 100 miles on it which will be for sale as soon as I've got an english

Why are you taking the atlas out for an English if I may ask ?

I've had escorts for years and like to keep it simple , the atlas looks out of place on my little 68 super as you can see it from behind , I'm only having a little pinto and have no need for it , it's more suited to an unarched cosworth conversion or similar

It's not something I would be down grading if it was already in my car. You could always get the atlas narrowed. Your measurements you wanted are they overall width or case end to case end ?

No the atlas was made by fostek to fit my car before I bought it , it is 46 inches end to end without brakes , it fits perfect but I just don't like the look of it , it's wasted on my car and makes people think I've got some serious power but sadly haven't, the car is sat in my garage unused since I bought it two years ago as I've been too busy with work so only has less than 100 miles on it

You'll be needing an Anglia axle then think there 46-1/2 overall. If you upgrade to two piece h/ shafts they add another 20mm on 10 mm each side.

If you do go Anglia route you will have to be carful on wheel offsets as the axle will be 2" closer to the springs than a std escort one.

If your on normal leaf springs, escort std case is 48" wide plus shafts and Anglia is 44" wide plus shafts so you will be moving the hubs 2" closer to the springs. Never done it but would say wider wheels at zero off set will catch the springs, but could be corrected there.

Wheels are 7s on rear and I'm on normal single leafs

No doubt a lot of escort owners on here will be able to tell you what wheels they use on std escort axle without making lfe difficult fitting an Anglia one which will include move the spring saddles on the case to suit the escort Spring widths.

hi bob, do you still need an Anglia axle, I have got one with halfshafts, the case is 110.8cm / 44.3 inch  with halfshafts 120.8 cm / 48.3 inch,  escort is 123.5 cm case / 49.4 inch  with halfshafts  135.5 cm / 54.2 inch.

if you go to the classic ford show, I could bring it with me, al the way from Holland, would 70 ponds be good ?
