capriforlife Posted October 27, 2023 Report Posted October 27, 2023 Hi I have just read you December issue. One of the topics was k-jetronic fuel injection system, I have a problem with my 2.8i capri and was wondering if you could point me to a diagnostic specialist in my area. I live in east kent. Kind regards Rob.
Miniliteman Posted October 27, 2023 Report Posted October 27, 2023 What is the problem? Also try a VW forum as lots of VW's in the day had a Bosch K (or KE) Jetronic system and their mechanics generally knew more about it that a Ford mechanic. https://www.zeepoort.nl/jetronic/K-Jetronic-troubleshooting.html
capriforlife Posted October 30, 2023 Author Report Posted October 30, 2023 My problem is the car starts from hot or cold fine, but when it's hot and left for 30 mins or so it fires up but it misfires on two cylinders. I belive its fuel related as the cylinders are flooding. I have changed the injectors but no improvement with this issue. I have also changed the thermo time switch. I don't want to keep buying parts hoping that this would fix the problem. Any thoughts ?. Thank you for your reply. Regards Rob
Miniliteman Posted October 30, 2023 Report Posted October 30, 2023 The K-Jetronic system isn't that complex but without a fuel-pressure gauge it's difficult to diagnose. If you have changed all injectors (incl. the cold-start injector) and the thermotime-switch as a quick check try the following: when it it isn't running properly. Switch engine off and try again. If it isn't running properly, switch engine off and remove fuelfiller-cap and try again. 1
capriforlife Posted October 30, 2023 Author Report Posted October 30, 2023 Thank you for your reply. I have changed the 6 injectors as I thought they maybe dripping. But I have not changed the cold start injector...could this be letting fuel in as it seams to be the rear two cylinders on the offside that are flooding . Rob
Miniliteman Posted October 30, 2023 Report Posted October 30, 2023 Take the plug of the cold start injector off first so that it isn't working electrically. See if it is better. If not that injector could be leaking, But strange that only 2 cylinders are flooding. Normally that indicates a problem for only those cylinders, like sticking valves or problem with the ignition.
capriforlife Posted October 30, 2023 Author Report Posted October 30, 2023 Yes it very strange!! Runs perfectly from cold and when at opp temp..this problem only happens when left for 30 mins when engine is hot.. Once it has completely cooled down starts perfectly again.
