Guest pistonbroke Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 Woohoo. I've made my ten posts so now i can put up some pics of my old snotters for your delight and amusment. First off my Mk3 cortina which i've had for over seven years now. When i got it it was a standard 1.6 xl in olympic blue. I lowered it some and fitted a set of laser wheels and thats how it stayed for a few years. Then i got bored having a car that everyone thought was 'cute' so i gave it a slight makeover. Well, you know what its like, you run out of paint, the shops are shut so you just think 'what the hell' Its now got a 2 litre pinto and five speed and a megasquirt ECU running edis at the moment. Injection will be coming soon unless i decied to fit a zetec when i pull it off the road when the escorts done. Oh yeah, the Escort. I know you dont projects in here so i'll show you it before the work started. It looks clean enough there but it wasnt. I've been restoring it for the last year and i'm hoping it'll be done by august. I'm going for a more euro style look on it because no one really seems to do it to anything other than VW's It should have a 2.3 volvo turbo lump in it too if i can find one cheap enough.
d13dkt Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 two class cars, love the 'lost intrest' look of the tina.
rscapriman Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Nice couple of classic fords there mate, I can remember when I was 17 my father bought a 1971 1300L Mk3 Cortina in White Reg No VAM 418J it was just 3yrs old totally gutless but I liked the old girl. regards RScapriman.
Guest pistonbroke Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Thanks guys. I can sypathise with anyone who has to drive a 1300 cortina. When mine had the 1600 it used to struggle on the motorway so i cant imagine how slow a 1300 must be. I've just put a thread in the restoration section for the escort, although looking at some of the ones on here that have been saved it looks like i've had it easy
EscortDan Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 aaahhhhh that is where the mk1 estate went! It was owned by a bloke near me and was up for sale but I missed out on it by a few hours! Good to see it is still about!
Stu_B Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 Tell me about it, my cortina is running a 1600 kent at the moment, It's slow!!! How does it go with the pinto in?
Guest pistonbroke Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 aaahhhhh that is where the mk1 estate went! It was owned by a bloke near me and was up for sale but I missed out on it by a few hours! Good to see it is still about! Yeah it was ebay about 2 years back. Pogweasel off retro rides bought it then realised he bit off more than he could chew and sold it to me He keeps hassling me to get it finished cos he wants to buy it back once its done Xflow: Pinto is a definate improvement mate, especialy with the 5speed box. But the mapped ignition improves it even more, loads of tourque all the way through the rev range, instant starting in any weather, better MPG and once its set up you never have to touch it again
