60's Sam Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 I'm going to study mechanics at school and i was thinking about buying a project people have been saying thats the best way to start but i was just wondering if enyone had eny suggestions? i would go with pretty much enyway tina a mk1 or mk3 capri or a mk1 fez but im really not sure...
tazrocks88 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 mk1 capa or mk1 tina!!! there the simplest and best since ur excluding the escort
60's Sam Posted March 20, 2007 Author Report Posted March 20, 2007 yeah but escorts seem to be really expensive... mk1's enywhoo the're the only ones i like, i really like the rs2000 that looks like a mk1
tazrocks88 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 yeh fair doos i would stick to late 60's early seventies cars for a simple first project if i were u dont know wat others would suggest but thats my opinion!!
60's Sam Posted March 20, 2007 Author Report Posted March 20, 2007 i want a mk3 tina but they seem quite alot
Guest M.Bird DOHC Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Id go for a LANDROVER! Can buy every single part new and there even more simple than old fords! Or does it have to be an old ford?
Essex Boy Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 No need for a Land Rover I don't hunt anymore and we don't live on a farm And Sam doesn't have a child yet to take to school in one
Guest M.Bird DOHC Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Yeah your really funny but mine is on my parents farm and is one of the simpliest forms of vehicle to learn on! Tax exempt too
Wessie Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 if your gonna get an OSf, spend the money findign a decent shell to start with, and if you buy a fez DO NOT leave it front wheel drive
Essex Boy Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Yes i know just having a laugh i've owned a couple of them both long wheel base pick ups one was fitted with a 3.9 Range rover engine too At the moment we need to get some more storage sorted, looking for another lock up localy. Will probably go for a MK3 Tina as its Sams favourite and they can still be picked up as resto's and Sam's keen to learn welding
Guest M.Bird DOHC Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Here's mine and it has 50 acres to play in! Took me 2 years! Completely rebuilt and id see your fest in a race! I choose where! Game set!
Twinkle Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 heres one i built now being used by an off road centrefor training marty you dont want to buy a rangie rolling chassis do you?
Wessie Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 marty you dont want to buy a rangie rolling chassis do you? how much,
Twinkle Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 £250 m8 includes all running gear and a 4 speed auto box, both props etc
Guest M.Bird DOHC Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 No wessie! Depends how cheap twink i do need a standard carb tank and a rad though! oh a 3.9 ECU Here's another of mine being abused! Not that the logs aint in line with the wheels!
Wessie Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 marty you got 2 many nice cars ! hmm . . . .
Essex Boy Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Here's mine and it has 50 acres to play in! Took me 2 years! Completely rebuilt and id see your fest in a race! I choose where! [/qoute] If i still had my Overfinch rangie i'd give it a go i know a great place in Hertfordshire where i used to go poaching
Twinkle Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 i have a rad here £30 and can bring it to esher tomorrow if you want it, got a ecu for a 3.5 but i sold my brand new tank on ebay, have got the efi one on the chassis though
Twinkle Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 back to topic and i would agree with marty that a landy would make an ideal project, eg have a go at painting it and a few blemishes doesnt matter. if you deffo want a first old skool probably a mk1 fezza as they are still sensibly priced and easy to work on and get parts
