Following the success of the great turn out and minor hiccup over the venue, Chris and I spoke briefly about another meet in March at a Venue called the Route 38 Cafe. From what I can see it's a similar set up to Londons Ace Cafe and is already accustomed to dealing with car clubs organising meets there. However there are pro's and cons to this that I shall list below: -

Pro's

1) It's in the country and is therefore generally unaffected by any traffic or PLOD issues

2) It's serves food & drinks

3) It has a sizeable car park

4) There are some great places to visit nearby so the option of a run becomes more attractive

5) There's some good twisty roads around

However the Con is that it's significantly further to come for those of you that came from Bristol and South Wales, I estimate it'd be another hour and a quarter from where we were today. Have a look at their website and see what you think?

So I direct this question at those who did travel furthest, how would you feel about it as a venue?

Oh and while we're all thinking about South West OSF, I'm still keen for an OSF stand at Powderham this summer. This is a fabulous all weekend event with camping facilities a beer tent and entertainment, register your interest on this thread

And Finally my photo's of today

Commiserations to this owner and we hope you get your diff sorted in time for our next meet

Quote of the day has to go to the owner of this police badged anglebox. She asked the traffic police present if they needed her to remove all the police badging before moving it across to the new venue. His response was priceless, "Love they don't even stop for us, what do you think they'll do when they see you after them?":lol:

I think me and Wardie came the furthest 230 mile round trip and we enjoyed ourselves but motoway driving is boring any chance of a meet neer bristol at all or somewhere a bit more central............

Thanks for coming down all that way and glad you enjoyed it. Unfortunately a Bristol event would be a non starter for most of the Cornish people as it'd give many of us a 4+ hour drive each way. I think probably Exeter is the most central South West meeting point so perhaps we should look a little harder for somewhere that can accomodate us.

Perhaps if Groomers and the other Exeter locals could put their heads together and come up with something? Easy to find with parking and a cafe nearby? And preferably where we are going to interfere too much with an existing customer base? Crealy park may be a possibility but again I don't know what they have in the way of facilities.

hi has the carpark been made larger ,when i was there a couple of months ago it seemed smaller than the carpark at the barn owl?

You're probably right there but if we had an organised event there we'd likely be given almost exclusive use of the car park rather than be competing with hotel and pub customers.

P.S. Loved your V8 Zephyr

Cool pics especially like the pickups :D was the orange mk 1 yours Vista it was parked next to my pickup (the green one) good turn out cant wait for the next one .

Route 38 is a good place ( food and beer ) but might be a bit far for the people nearer somerset

 Doesn't bother me its only an hour tops to exeter for me so i don't mind going a bit further. I could always make a weekend of it, love going to cornwall :D

That's my not so Old Skool Ford parked next to the Red Capper!

Think if you held it down at Route you'd lose a lot from further up (Bristol & Wales) cos it's a hell of a trek down (Especially for cars running Twin Carbs).

Somewhere central like Exeter is ideal but need a venue with a big car park & food near by

Looks like a fantastic turn out ... well done :D:D:D:D

If we hadn't been doing the Brighton reccie run we would have come down to that.

If you go for Exeter next time, we'll be up for that - 3 hours each way for us ... sadly, the route38 one would be a little too far but looks like a good venue for you SW members :D:D

thats looked like a good meet i just didnt have the petrol :sad:

It was a great day out and good to finally put a few faces to the names on here. Very cold though, wish I'd taken a jumper as I don't think I've thawed out yet! Get yourself along to our next one, planned for some time in March, but we have to figure something out about a venue. I'm hoping the Exeter locals can find something appropriate.

Thanks for the compliment Young un.
