As title really, the auto box was working well before removed, removed for manual conversion after £60 collected (i can sort postage out at your cost) Im also selling the auto pedal box, selector and torque convertor for £25 for the lot located south wales, port talbot

Ive lost mine after removing the bumper over a year ago, an y one got the pair?! just to be clear, the two brackets either side, that connect the front bumper to the inner wings, two bolts per bracket for inside the wing... Cheers!!

ive misplaced mine and im in desperate need of a replacement, any one know of one or have one lingering in the shed please get in touch its something i need to get my capri on the road

some work has been done! was bit bored today and had some good weather so i figured id fit the four branch we got for her at Ford Fair i actually choose it from the 2 on sale, this one seemed to be a direct (as they come) fitment so set about removing the old manifold, but run into trouble as i found the down pipe is welded to the mid section by some numpty in the past, so i had to then take the entire midsection off, but when doing so the back section wouldnt come free form the mid, and after a few knocks with the hammer the pipe out of the mid silencer snapped off... so its going to need a replacement mid box now as well as the already ruined back section im looking to buy a used mid section and perhaps a cherry bomb backbox for some exhaust note, unless something decent pops up cheap as it stands now the four branch is fitted, but none of the rest of the system is on

done some work to the capri! :aaah: :bonkers: in this sun? couldnt say no, been iching to for a few days, id did wanna work on the mk1 but i have no idea what the old man is doing with the wiring loom :oooh: anyway, always thought the front end has too much white, especially as some have black lamp surrounds and grill, but i cant get the rusty screws out of the both lamp suroudns, so without snapping the surround, it will have to stay white however i painted the grill satin black today... in between doing that, i treated the areas my old man grinded out the rust, and kurusted them, so i wet and dried them back, and applied red oxide this area needs quite some work yet the big hole has been plated rear arch too the bigger picture she does drive well, gets upto speed and through the gears, but sluggish still, plenty of missfiring more to come soon, we want it Mot'd in the next few months

very nice, killer power to weight too!

this is on the back burner lately, mk1 capri is in the garage atm, old man is sorting the wiring out on it, but has gotten stuck although, the rot was cut out of the wing, awaiting new metal welded in it runs, drives etc, but alot of headscratching as its quite sluggish, doesnt wanna rev, and has a few misfires think it just needs proper setting up but lack the knowledge on this older engine to get it running good
-
yay we have sorted it right out now! took the starter motor off, and found the bolt that had fallen in the bellhousing, then noticed the torque converter bolts were quite loose, they must have loosened up after getting it running a while ago so with them tightened up we got it back together, stared it up and was glad to hear this: dont know how to get the video link to work wont be long till its put through the mot! so relieved with it

its running spot on now i cant claim the fame on that either, my old mans been potching with it, unseized a valve or something on the carb, was rock solid he said, also swapped out the condenser and points for the electronic gizmo, and it starts on the button and idles sweet, hes now been bidding on some replacement parts for it such as a new parcel shelf as its one is fooked hes actually bidding on twin dellorto carbs, that would give a nice hike in power, well see if he wins water pump is still leaking even after inspection, its missing its gasket, even sealer couldn't stop it, so hes bidding on a new one front bumper has been painted just need to look into the rattles from the engine i do remember a bolt fell into the bellhousing when fitting the engine, could be that, but was hard to remove once engine was mated to the gearbox

the carb that come with this engine was leaking like a frightened school boy, so swapped it back to the original that come with the car, and it runs like utter dog shite now but atleast the leak had stopped, but i think its all clogged up from being stood, as if you rev it it just struggles and bogs down, think the jets need flushing out properly, so ill either strip that carb down, or swap it back to the one that come with this engine, but with the new gaskets, as that run fine tbh today i fitted the nice new shock absorber to the O/S/R bolt located here by a hunch had to lower the car back on its wheel though, so the weight would prevent the shaft from turning after some WD-40 and a littler hammertime, the old shock bolt come out nicely, and you can see the difference, and as to why were replacing it comparison back on with added coppergrease, not worried about the old nut and old on the bottom, it was very thick steel and wasnt even rusted up internally i enjoy working on this car, its just so simply, easy, and rewarding to work on, i wish more needed replacing in a way, might nag the old man to renew the brake pads and discs, they're not at the end of they're life but still have bit of a lip all for now

not updated in a while, this is getting there, slowly its just got running issues, with the carb this engine come with, it idles good, but can missfire when revving, and sometimes cut out when the gearbox doesnt engage properly so i swapped it to the carb the car come with (on original engine) and it barely run at first, after removing the choke butterfly plates, it idles, but very high, around 1.5k and is juddery when it revs, played with the timing plenty, and as soon as it i turn the dizzy to make the timing marks meet with the light, it will die really cant figure out why, but it does drive alright, minus the cutting out now and then also wired in the electric fan few days ago once i get a fan switch kit it will be wired up good, its been earthed in this pic also cosmeticly ive painted the brake calipers in gold paint
-
i realised yesterday that my dad didnt tighten the nuts on the electrical connections on the dizzy, the wires were just wiggling around, which made it run quite bad, so ive sorted that and its much better took it for a little shakedown round the park and back and it went well, got home and i realised i had left my mobile ont he roof!, luck it was still there as it didnt go far/fast need to swap the carb to the old one now as this one is missing the auto choke and is leaking fuel from the side like no tomorrow, not helping how it runs at all! i also painted the calipers gold after raising it on 4 stands with all the wheels off today i welded a pair of brackets to support a fiesta zetec fan i had lieing around for years, works a treat after giving it some 12V supply, will wire that in and after getting a fan switch plumbed in, it will have been converted to electric fan :Q will but some paint on these soon
-
managed to get the ignition advance set up earlier, turns out i was looking at the wrong crank marker! :aaah: so begs to question, which is the one you time the timing belt up with?! is it this? (timing light was for this one atleast) or is it this one? (ive done the cam belt to this one) apart form how it runs, it doesnt matter really as a forum member pointed out the pinto is a Non interference engine, so i wont be bending any valves either way filled the gearbox with automatic transmission fluid and attempted a shakedown around the lane, still didnt manage to fill the gearbox though, shall get more tomorrow after it gingerly drove out the garage, seen a trail of red fluid, the cooler under the rad for the gearbox fluid was leaking badly, so clamped the previous owners bodge back up and stopped the leak, explains where my fluid has gone anyway it doesnt hold revs well, and sometimes loses it all together and cuts out, something is deffo up it sounds better but still has that knocking when its revved next mission is to take the starter off, check inside the bell housing for any obstructions, see if its causing the noise, namely the bellhousing plate, after that remove the sump, somehow since i cant lift the engine out anymore and the crossmember is in the way and it will need to be swapped as we noticed this sump is different to the other engine, drain plug is on the starter side and theres a buldge stopping the starter fitting flush, i knocked that in a bit with a mallet, so could cause and then check the bottom end
-
im afraid the bottom end might be gone on this engine, its making some horrid noises when you rev it, if so the guy who sold us it is a horrible horrible man, it sounds like its already half way toward death, he would have known this before selling it or it could be something just loose, hard to tell, the starter isnt as tight as it can be as the bulbs are begining to round off but after bracing the starter the noise continues how do i check the bottom end? got the idea of taking the sump off and checking for play in each rod, and or removing the end caps and seeing how "meaty" the shims are, or even if the cap bolts are tight or not any help with this will go far, we have plenty of spares, rods, pistons even a spare crank! will buy new shims if needed
