hI , I have a couple of questions please. to achieve a top speed of lets say 115mph with a 2.0l Pinto engine that has twin 45s and a type 9 5 speed gear box ,what kind of horse power would i be looking for ? can anyone give me some examples please. i,e 130 bhp = ??mph 150 bhp =?? mph i am trying to get my engine rebuilt and have about £1000 budget. i have a company in mind but i was just wondering what spec to ask for .? can anyone help please. i know there is a formula to calculate bhp - mph but actually its a bit mind boggling . so i was just wondering if anyone could give me some rough estimates/examples cheers

Sounds good to me ! might get some geniune parts at geniune prices, ebay is ok! but im tiered of going to buy something and hearing this from the seller, "Well i have seen one just like this on ebay and it went for ", and half the time you either end up paying over the odds or come away empty handed. it might be different if the items being sold are from genuine enthusiasts such as the likes of us on OSF, to other genuine OSFers i think its a great idea if you can make it work......

Funny , i am having mine done by some body else and i got told the other day when enquiring "would it be ready for the target date"? that it doesn`t matter how much money you throw at it these things take time if it is to be done properly. I work away out of the country" offshore" and internet is almost none existant telephone calls can be made if the weather is fair ! and it is soooo frustrating sometimes not knowing how things are going. so yes i also know how you feel . car has been stripped welding work on going booked in next week for sand blasting then re wired (whole car) then painting and im sitting here right now trying to find the best deal to have a pinto rebuild done . once i get home mid march i will start on the interior BUT IT ALL SEEMS SO FAR AWAY !!!!! i have owned a mk1 before at the tender age of 18 " a few years ago now" but honestly i still remember how it feels to drive and the excitement it gives you , THATS WHAT MAKES IT WORTH THE WAIT

Dear Joe I have purchased a mk1 escort in the last couple of months and it is under going a full resto, it was fitted with a 2.3 pinto and type 9, 5 speed gear box. the guy I purchased it from said that the engine had previously had work done to it by the person he purchased the engine from, the problem is I have no specifics on the engine what so ever , well apart from that it is a 2.3 Pinto unleaded running twin 45`s. As I have said the car is under going a full resto and I thought that whilst the engine is out this would be a good time to get it looked at and/or upgraded, this would all depend on how much money would be involved because the car was pretty rotten when I purchased it and has since been stripped , dipped and new panels welded , wiring loom will also need to be replaced as there has been lots of added extras over the years. I was hoping that you could give me a rough estimate on how much it would cost for you guys to have the engine and give it a bit of a going over ? and make it road quick.obviously I know you will not be able to tell me with out knowing specifics but I was looking for a rough guide. I want my escort to be road quick but to be honest Im not sure what would be needed . the engine is/was running before it was taken out of the car and is now sitting in a friends garage.
