  5. May be able to deliver as far north as Liverpool over the hols.
  6. Clearing the loft I have come across a load of old copies of Motoring News from the eighties (2 meter stack). They come to you for a tenner. The prices of RS Escorts in the classified adds will have you crying in your beer! I can deliver along the M5 corridor south of Bristol and possibly as far as Liverpool over the hols. Mob 07761791290

  10. Mk 2 Escort towbar complete with a mounting bolts and electrics. £30. Text me on 07761791290.
  11. A pair of RS leaf springs from an RS 2000 Mk2. The springs are in reasonable condition but you would want to put new bushes in the rear eyes before you use them. I travel to Bristol frequently so delivery along the M5 corridor would be easy to arrange. Price £30 Text me initially on 07761791290
  12. Late 90s also saw the a fleeting glimpse of RS ownership. OKB5S was a dark blue RS2000 Mk2 with 12 months ticket. What a car, £550 I paid for it. I knew it was a bit rough but it was an RS and it was mine. I loved it. Lowered by 1.5 inches and sat on 185 60 series tyres it looked and handled. It had a Janspeed exhaust and so sounded just so too. The doors had yale dead locks which was one of the ways people tried to stop the light fingered taking them away back in the day. Having rebuilt the inner wings to stop the struts coming through the bonnet, yes they were that bad, mostly filler, it became obvious it had a pretty doggy shell. Having removed the carpet to dry out the interior which was always either wet or on a good day damp I discovered large amounts of thin air where Ford had originally put the inner sills. In the spring when the weather improved I hoovered up what remained of the inner sills and put the now dry carpet went back in. OKB was sold with six months MOT left. In the mean time I had a ball driving that car and still remember fondly it's ability to do things sideways, like exiting roundabouts. Now I understood how Toad felt, Oh joy oh poop poop. Sacrilege to treat an RS in such a manner? You have to bear in mind that back then they where relatively common and cheap. I remember one of the local RSOC member selling a gorgeous one £2500 around the time I had OKB. I am staggered by the money Escorts are changing hands for now.
  13. The late 90s arrived and with two kids another four door was needed. Enter UTK???W a Mk2 1.6L in dark blue this time. Brilliant car and quite quick too. That one was eventually sold on to guy in the mid noughties. He wanted it for motor club rallying so I doubt that it survives today.
  14. Weeks later I needed a lift so my land lady said she would drop me at college. She drove the RS in her 6" stiletto heels and being barely 5 foot tall could just see over the dash and reach the pedals simultaneously with seat shoved under the steering wheel! But she new how to drive too and quicker than her husband. That was the quickest I ever got to college.
  15. Hi All. Been enrolled for a while now but never post here. Maybe some of this will be of interest to some of you. My first car was a Mk2 Escort 1.3L 4 door in a fetching shade of pale blue. ATA23T where are you now? Long since scrapped I would imagine. Bought in 81 and thrashed and bashed as only a youngster knows how and eventually sold around 1990. That was it though, I became and will forever be a huge fan of the Mk2. My landlord in the early 80s had a Mk1 RS1600. I got a ride in that one after helping him change the diff one evening. That was an eye opener! He knew how to drive and the RS was well sorted and ballistic.
