Hi all, I found a listing for this in Classic Car Weekly, £5 entry for your car and 2 people. Is anyone going? Did anyone attend last year? http://www.kentsallfordshow.co.uk/

First thing I did was change mine - found that they were 15 years old, loads of tread but zero grip. Bought 5 Continentals.

Classic Ford 2016 or not so Classic any more
Audicab26 replied to jamie956's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
The 'what constitutes a classic' debate will always rage on. I imagine people who own 1930's MG's might not consider my 1979 Ford much of a classic? I get that this forum caters only for Old School Fords which is why I joined. But the term Classic is often open to interpretation. To a 20 year old a 1996 car probably feels like a classic or at least a 'modern classic'. For the record all my sons teenage mates think my completely standard Escort Ghia is really cool (they might be humouring me) but as it cost me more than a new Dacia to acquire I doubt many of them will be buying one for themselves anytime soon. If youngsters are all labelled chavs and they're efforts derided there will be no classic car movement in years to come. A lot of young adults have been priced off the the road and just as many are not interested in cars. So if someone has made the effort to get an 'older' car, spend money on it and bring it to a show then they should be welcomed. They probably 'get' our passion for our cars so we should probably return the courtesy? I've never been to the Classic Ford Show and I only get the mag on occasions but surely it's big enough to display the different cars in their own sections to please all? As a car lover I enjoy chatting to the enthusiastic owners of all cars new and old. As someone who sold new Fords from the late 80's up to 2006 I would have to say that SOME of the cars we launched in that era were terrible (MK5 Escort, Fusion, Maverick, Scorpio) but even they have a following which should be encouraged. Others like the Ka, Puma, Mk1 Focus and Mk1 Mondeo were groundbreaking (for Ford) in design and the way they drove etc so were really important milestones for Ford. I got my car because I grew up with them - my Dad had them and I drove them as a teen. If every car lover did the same and why not? Then your going to get a few mid 90's cars rocking up at shows. Not looking to ruffle feathers or start an argument but just offering my own point of view which I know and respect will be different from others. Happy new year. -

Hi John, I am keen to show my Escort in 2016. When and where is your show held please? Thank you Derek -
Need to start a campaign to stop eBay sellers describing their cars as 'concourse condition'. It is 'concours'. If you stick an e on the end your describing your car as an airport walkway which is baffling

Rear Seat belts all fitted, nice and straight forward for a change.

Thanks for the great welcom guys, and the kind comments about my car. It's lovely, I keep going to the garage just to look at it. The rear seat belts arrived today, little job for Sunday.

Thank you, they listed it on Friday 29th of May and I bought it on the 31st. Just what I was looking for. They had it serviced and MOT'd and I got it the following Friday. They were great to deal with, no complaints at all, they were selling on behalf of the owner who didn't want to be involved in the selling process. I've since spoken to the previous owner who is a lovely guy, the car has a great history. They've only just marked it sold on the website - I think they leave them on to generate enquiries?

Thanks - just ordered a pair.

Can anyone recommend a suitable aftermarket inertia reel seat belt - or a suitable belt from a doner car? I read somewhere that I Fiesta belts fit - but I guess they must be rare now?

Fear not, Just gonna drive it, show it, love it and polish it

Yes, I bought it from KGF. 2 owners (father and son) and only 29500 miles. Been looking for ages - really like things original and this one ticks the box for me.

Hi all, Just bought myself a low mileage MK2 Escort. For me it's a chance to re-live my distant youth. My Dad had them as company cars when I was growing up and I had a number of them when I started driving. I've had it a couple of weeks and I love it, a real treat to drive. It's completely original and I'll keep it that way - although I'm looking into fitting rear seat belts. Any advice on this welcomed, I think mine has the mountings, it's a 79 4dr Ghia made in Germany. Will post some pictures in due course.
