The only reason there is a shortage of "proper" classics is because they pi55ed people off in the first place by allowing hoards of the plastic bumpered cars in. Then they tried to reverse that trend but by then the admission price had sky rocketed. I simply refuse to pay out that kind of entrance money where we ARE the show. So many of the Anglia gang dont bother now, and almost anyone else i speak too with 60's 70's classics are not interested in this event anymore. Agree with MG, its had its day and they've effectively turned it into another Ford Fair imo. Another event that has wee'd on it own chips is the Harpenden Classics on the Green. £12 entry or £17 early entry. Oh and the modern classics are allowed on the green first priority. Charity show fair enough, but come on.... honestly. Think I'll stick to doing tours and using it for my purposes. Apologies for ranting lol

I dont have a Escort but this may be of use. I made my own rack conversion for my Corsair, and used a Fiesta mk3 coupling on the bottom of the column. Now these are a stamped/pressed out item with a hex in one end splined in the other. I found after much head scratching as to why my steering was a bit notchy, they are frankly, shite. I thought I would get a proper Ford mk3 fes one as the one i was using was an aftermarket version. The Ford one was even worse, everything was trying to rotate off centre, and the splined end was badly made also. In the end I've had to swap to a cast type UJ. Various places supply them, I got mine from Motorsport Tools.

Yup had that a few weeks ago on the Southbound M6 near Stafford. Fortunately we did get some warning from the over head signs albeit a bit last second, but you don't know which lane they're coming at you in or whether the lunatics are going to swerve into you at the last second. The Keystones chasing over in the correct lane are pretty powerless in a situation like this. I don't know the outcome, didn't see it mentioned anywhere the next day, but hopefully no one got hurt. Have to say the driver of the wrong way car, had the "mad person stare" as they went past me. Quite scary tbh.

I'm a lorry driver myself and i have to say the problem of getting parked anywhere for breaks is getting worse. The Government do not appear interested in creating somewhere for drivers to kip/rest. There are so few private parks too. One I know of has just closed recently near Derby. You often see lorries parked up on the hard shoulders at night now partly as the councils/highways dept have this insane idea of closing every damn road possible for repairs at nightime. The queue to get off onto the diversions are often a an hour or so long and you simply run out of tacho time. However the t**ts at DVSA are not keen on leniency when it comes to going over tacho hours, even by a few minutes. So dont expect the problem to go away soon.
