  1. Ok, Here in SA there is steady increase in Sierra and Sapphire prices. A decent condition XR6 ( v6 Essex Sierra) has increased by 50% in the last year. I can safely say that its due to the rear wheel drive nature of these cars. Even as a cheap drift car, is creating a need in the market. Prices are going to steadily go up, especially original ones. Potentially a classic , possibly
  2. Dont do it , the ride gets terrible, cant turn steering full in either way and the car just follows the camber of the road. I used a 20 ofsett rim as well in 17 Inch, so no spacers was needed. But not worth it
  3. The headers were locally made up back in the day by a local company called Brospeed. I heard that these were used on the formula ford open wheeled cars. Notthing impressive really, but similar spec to the what HPE or other tuning guys would use. I dont have the head to match the headers just yet. and its begining to burn my starter wires too. But its Work in progress
  4. Hi All, Im Shaun from South Africa, Any ford here in Sa still suffers from rust, I live along the coast and it makes matters a bit worse. Like all things if a car is properly stored under shelter or garage , it will last. My first escort suffered from floor pan nicks and evenutally rusted away under the underbody sealant. Typicall areas are the door posts on most two doors, and floor pans, and lower fender wells & battery trays It is unfortunate that Sa has lost a lot of old fords, with the escort next in line but its also the mindset of the locals. The VWs and toyotas are much more popular here, with people very much willing to pay top money for the Golf 1 Gt or old twincam corolla, but its not the case with an old escort. People are begining to learn from the losses of the fairmont Gt and perana cars and slowly escort prices are increasing here, especially a Mk 1. i dont think I can afford a Mk1 again as clean ones are rare and panels here are also scarce. however theres a fair amount of decent Mk2s.
  5. Thank you for the welcome Gents, Ive seen many many cars disappearing here, cars being sold to family who then have been a stack load of money to sell and they gone.! But honestly, there is some reall beauties still tucked away in the Midlands of South Africa, I hunted for like 2 years and a close friend spotted this one the rural areas , like 800kms from the sea. The car has all original body panels and paint and engine, but the someone converted it to a manual gearbox and made a hash of it. My plan first to gut it and go for a sport look , but its grown on me and it will be kept all original on looks, Mods will be under the skin . Hard to belive a 38 year old paint job still intact mind the stone chips. Ofcourse I have no plans on repainting either , as its only original once
  6. Thank you, Please note Im not a fan of big wheels on small escorts, just tried on a new look. The escort came with all its original trim , ie the color coded hubcaps and 13" biscuit tyres, Managed to source 175/50s whilst adding a modern flair to an old wheel
