Awesome looking Sierra, and I bet these are pretty hard to find in that condition, no matter where you are in the world. The original 14 inch rim above ( 7 spoke ) rim looks period correct as well. Incidentally the XR8 here in ZA used the same spec but in a 15 inch called Ronal's. . The rumor has it, these preferred as they cooled the brake discs down better on the XR8s fronts. . Again another extremely hard rim to find here. Nonetheless, your newer design 14 inch, often referred to a the bullet hole alloys, where the period correct Sierra XR6 wheel. Would love to get a set of those in 15 inch for my Sapphire. I ve kept my late moms Sapphire 1989 2.0 i Gle for standard for almost 10years, and well .......................time gets the better of you eventually

At one stage my entire family owned and drove fords, especially the Mk4 and Mk5 cortinas Sadly now all of them moved on to Toyotas, me inclusive, Would love to own a JDM classic as well.

Thanks again, Im guessing the tyres are going to rub , but its on a 195 right now, Theres plenty options these days on 15 inch, can go to a 175/50 in 15 as well, The "5 Star " wheel is just a local knockoff rim , its on 6J wide and I wasn't to fond of it. Nonetheless, will lower an inch and see. the Pinto is yet to go in, so it will go down a bit more

Used the lock down to teach myself how to weld, spray paint etc., Thus I tried my Hand at building the coilvers using eth unversal sleeve over sets. Still in the process of final mockup before welding. Also I decided to go with a 15inch wheel as opposed to 13 inch. I cant put my finger on it, but it doesnt look right? Perhaps the front needs to go down another 30mm?

Fast forward to 2021. Its been 4 yrs of owning the little Mk2. just when I thought id have the Kent screamer built, with the the go faster goodies, Got hit with an urge to go the Pinto Route, so used Lock down to effectively strip it all out again, As events unfolded, my auto gearbox on the saffy seen its days so ended up buying a complete non runner Gli just for the 5speed. Teh Pinto thus comes in handy along the extremely usefull other bits like fuel lines, wiring, etc etc, Lets hope its not another 4 yrs to get her back on the road

I Blame the Japs, there's some real classics out there with heritage and good value for money . The values of Mk1 and Mk2 are crazy now, and every little original bit costs and arm n leg

Thank you, Was hoping to get things going with the car, however life's priorities do take over. At least for now its dry stored in the garage,

Fast Forward to April 2020, Not much progress on the car, Its still garage bound. Interior has been stripped down to clean up the floor pans.

Howzit , My 4 door tag plate shows a Vinyl top - Parchment - The Vinyl top is actually white in colour. The Interior doorcards and seats are an biege ( Parchment Color ) Of course the body colour is Cologne Blue. Thus I assume your tag would describe a Green interior . Alpine white Bodycolour

This was my first car , 21st birthday present, pic taken back in 1997. It was in between an orange and yellow. Engine wise all stock SA spec 1600 Sport. Sorry for the poor quality but just thought Id share.

Firstly, Big Respect to all the UK people for keeping old school fords alive, Some of those builds I followed near write offs, yet brough back to life. In SA, people dont think twice about cutting up decent cars, especially the 4 door escorts. Ive witnessed floors being cut out just to build 2 door back to spec. People in SA have quickly learned the proper value of these cars, and unfortunatley many have just jumped on the bandwagon to make a quick buck. Hence the reason some real nasty cars ended up going across. However having said that, the are some really good clean cars here in SA. The registration authorities are quite a pain to deal with, even to register a local car sometimes. Also noticed SA escorts and v8 sierras heading for Australia as well, Hope you come right with the ideal car boet,
