  1. Thanks for your reply. That could create problems then as I only did part floor pans when I restored it and also sections of the petrol tank and spare wheel wells. I have a feeling there are other patch repairs too.
  2. Evening all, It's looking very likely that I shall be moving to Bavaria in the summer and I really want to take my Mk1 with me. I'm looking for information regarding what the rules are for registering and running a modified Mk1 Escort in Germany and wondered if anyone on here had any experience or info. The car isn't wildly modified, 2ltr Pinto, 5 speed, lowered on Mk2 front struts and rear axle with Mk2 brakes front and rear. Any help would be gratefully received. Cheers
  3. I might be interested in this mate, could you tell me what sump is fitted to this, is it a Mondeo one or an Escort one?
  4. I'm up for that mate.
  5. Here's mine mate, it fixes to the front x-member and through the rear spring monts on the chassis rails.
  6. Thanks mate, I kinda thought that might be the case.
  7. I've got a rear quarter panel for a 4-door mk1 escort and I'm trying to work out if it's a genuine Ford one or not. It's got this sticker on the bit next to the hole for the boot. Anyone got any ideas?
  8. Gutted for you mate. I must say you were actually really lucky, most car fires will utterly destroy the whole car within a few minutes. I've seen plenty where they've got so hot the alloy wheels have melted to the road! My advice to all of you is to get an extinguisher, even a small one may save a cherished motor. Good luck with the assessor, you never know they might be into OSF's! And lets hope someone will take her on and give her a new lease of life.
  9. I'll be there, round about lunchtime for the barbie.
  10. I'll be there. Probably won't make it till around 1ish tho. (just in time for lunch )
  11. No mate, was supposed to be working all weekend but managed to get the sunday off.
  12. Just got your PM mate. I'm not gonna make the 17th, I'm stuck at work the wrong side of Brighton until 8pm. I'll have to catch up with you at Hellingly on the 30th
  13. AARR Crap, I hate shift work.
  14. Great pics mate. Gutted I couldn't make it, looks like a really good turn out. Hopefully I'll be there next month.
  15. I took my Escort to its first show on Sunday, the Cuckoo fair. This show is between Lewes and Hailsham and really has something for everyone. There was a good showing of OSF's as well as a wide variety of classics in general, here are the pics.... And some non OSF's!
  16. Great pics Thoroughly enjoyed this one, great to meet a few more from OSF. I'll post my pics up too.
  17. perhaps I'd better check the diff, loads easier to swap than the box. Been asking everyone who's been in the car where they think the noise is coming from, general opinion was the gearbox but no one was 100% convinced! The car's only just gone back on the road and covered 200 miles, I put new oil in the box when I put it in the car. Check the oil in the box today and level is just right.
  18. Can anyone help? The type 9 in my mk1 escort is noisy... I'm pretty sure it's bearings as it only does it (whines) when I get up a bit of speed and makes no difference what gear I'm in. I've got another box in my garage but I've had it for ages and I've no idea where it came from or what it's like. Is there any way of telling whether it's worn out without it being in a car? I took the top cover off but I have no idea what to look for.
  19. Cheers for the comments guys, glad you like it.
  20. I love this car. Great to see it in the flesh at Boxhill, stunning.
  21. After buying the car from a breakers yard in 2002, my MK1 Escort project is finally on the road and I can't wipe the grin off my face. Because I rarely get a chance to 'play cars' and updates would have been a bit few and far between I didn't put a thread up in the projects and restorations room. I have taken a bucket load of pics of the restoration and I'll put them up in the finished projects room soon. So here's a few at the start and last weekend, hope you like.... As bought in Feb 2002 Work in progress On my spit And last Saturday afternoon after Boxhill.
  22. Looks like a good turnout, gutted I had to work.
  23. Gonna try and get there, got a postcode for the pub?
