As you may or may not be aware, there's been tough times at Shoreham Airport in the last week or so. It looks as though the bar/restaurant is open as usual because I saw an MG owners club meet there tonight. Just had a thought..... Check the exhaust manifold nuts are tight, a slight blow between the head and the manifold can sometimes sound like tappets, I've had this before too!

I'd deffo get the timing checked, I messed about with my 1300E for ages, in the end I stopped it. Can't tell you what advance I'm running cos I ended up setting the timing by ear! The trouble is, we have to run our old cars on this crappy unleaded petrol which has a lower octane rating than the old 4 star so the engine will 'pink' when under load. If you get stuck finding someone who can check it let me know cos I don't think I'm too many miles from you.
