Hi, after struggling to get to it I've found the following. It may not be dead accurate, but it's the best I could do: (This is written on the plastic plug socket of the ECU) 9705 008 Osram E8AF 14A624 AA SILVAN 1A That's what I read it as anyway. I don't know if that makes any sense?

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I'll have to post the ECU number later as I'm not near the car at present. Forgive my ignorance, but where will I find the MAF sensor and the dis-coil? (Is that the coil pack?) I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to modern electrickery and have only just moved away from Carbs Steve

Hi, I have a Mk1 Cortina with a twin cam Zetec engine and (I've been told) an Escort EFI set up. I think the conversion was done around 20 years ago, so it's not a modern ECU set up. I know virtually nothing about how to find faults with this and just recently the car has started to lose power intermittently. I've replaced the electric fuel pump as it wasn't sounding too sprightly, but that hasn't cured the fault. Under the glove box is a rats nest of wiring and a socket which I have been told is an OBD port. Can someone confirm this please? And also, if it is, has anyone used OBD fault code readers and what would be the best one to buy? Thanks Steve

Thanks, apparently, part of the plot line for the Mk1 estate in Endeavour was that the lady driving it was supposed to pretend to break down and when her husband opened the bonnet to have a look she was to hit him over the head with a tyre iron. So they set the camera up to record the scene.........and then found that the bonnet opens forward! Needless to say, with the bonnet opened that way the assault with the tyre iron couldn't be seen. They then changed the script and the wife had to pretend that the car had a puncture instead. 😄

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot, I have a Triumph Mk1 estate as well, but this is currently in Norfolk awaiting serious welding to a chassis rail. (Too skilled a job for my limited abilities) It was also in the detective series 'Endeavour'. I've pretty much decided that this will be going up for sale as soon as it's roadworthy and will hopefully be replaced by a Mk1 Cortina estate. (Hard to find I know)

As requested, a couple pics of the Mk1 Cortina and my two Triumphs. The white one is a genuine Mk1 2.5 Pi (Bored out to 2.6) and the blue one was a 2000, but is now a 2.5. (Also bored out to 2.6) I'm not certain of the Triumphs futures yet as I've been around the Triumph world for some time and feel that I've done all I can with them. Both cars have completed the Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run with no issues. (Look it up. 2000 miles non-stop in 48 hours!) The guy I bought the Cortina off of seems to like Lotus Cortinas and has stuck a few Lotus badges on it. It's a 1600 xflow engine with a hi-lift cam and 4 branch manifold. It also runs a 5 speed type 9 gearbox. I've also just fitted black leather Alfa seats in it for more comfort.

HI All, I'm a new member and a new owner of a four door Mk1 Cortina. It was on the road when I bought it, but I always give new cars a good check over and I found a few things that I wasn't happy with, so the car is now off the road! (Partially seized rear wheel cylinders, incorrect wheel nuts that were damaging the wheels, and AF threaded studs on the front hubs and metric on the rear.) I was into Fords many years ago dabbling with Mk1 and Mk2 Granada's, (in fact, my mate still owns my old 3.0 Consul GT that I sold him in 2009) but for the past 13 years have been rallying, wrecking and sometimes improving cars from the Triumph 2000 range. (I still own a Mk1 2.5 Pi and another Mk1 saloon with a 2.6 engine.) I'm not too worried about originality and like to do the odd modification and I believe these cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed. (In all weathers) Hope to see some of you at the shows. 🙂
