samurai..... you want a toad AI606! around about £275, and worth every penny!
-
as i said just my opinion but i hate them, everyone ive spoken to has had nothing but bad happens with them. and we have them on some cars at work and there just awful. one in particular kept texting the bloke to tell him the alarm was going off, poxy thing didnt stop. not the sort of phonecall you expect "hello, ive just had a text from my car to say the alarm is going off, is everything ok?" toad alarms ive found to be the best, ive fund a firm that fit them for free too, my last one was £300. and ive had them fitted to my last three cars without a single hiccup.

i wouldnt recommend clifford, there pretty awful things. just my opinion.
-
i dont think you can put a price on security. i paid 300 ish for my alarm and its a really good good. i only ever use toad alarms now and there absolutly brilliant, plus lifetime guarantee. i watch all these police stop programs and they always recover the cars, weather there slightly dinged here and there is another issue, at the end of the day youve got your car back. and that for me would be good enough. you see these rs' and mex's going for 6k plus on ebay, and yet people are arguing over 500quid. i think if youve got your pride and joy youve rammed thousands into then security should be at the top of your list, in front of the shiny YB engine.

its not an old ford unfortunatly. i wont lose money on the liner, from what ive seen i might even make a few hundred. saying that, ill probably wanna keep it tomorow. no, no i dont. its definatly going.
-
yep, its boring me! fell in love with another car unfortunatly.
-
yep and i love it! bought the skyline without even thinking about it, saw it, lked it, got up and travelled to devon the next morning. didnt even phone for insurance, which im now regretting. oh well oh and got my tounge peirced pretty impulsivly, seemed liked a brilliant idea at that moment in time. i always find its the best way to go about life, jump in feet first and think about what youve done later. most things are reversable so just go for it!. my dad hates me for it, i mentioned i wanted another car the other day(bored of the skyline)and he said make sure you research it first. im blanently not going to, i love the feeling when your out your depth and a little scared!

thats cos most peugeots the valves open directly downwards towards the pistons so the camshaft takes the brunt. every 1.9 diesel we get will break a cam, same as the 1800td escorts. with the renault the open at an angle and therefore just bent valves, whip the head off johhny and give me a ring, as i said ill help where i can.
-
my dad wants one, im trying everything to convinve him to buy a legacy. bloody hate bmw's. ive found a new game tho, if theres a beemer following too close put your washer jets on constantly so they have to have there wipers on. highly childish, yet makes me smile everytime.
-
it really isnt that bad johnny, it'll have a few bent valves and thats it. some valves cambelt headgasket and your away.
-
105nick, you cant believe some of the diagnoses we have from the AA, it really makes me wonder if they know an internal combustion sometimes. we had a landrover in one day(surprise surprise), what happened??? loss of power and lots of white smoke. diagnosis....cambelt snapped. genius i tell yer!
-
if its the 8valve energie engine then.... it WILL have bent valves! there wont be any other damage, in my few years ive never seen any other damage other than bent valves(other than a couple of seats nicked where theyve been guning it)ive never seen pistons damaged enough not to use them again. whip the head off(im sure you'll be able to do that)and get the bent valves sorted, i can help out if need be, new headgasket and your away. you can re use the bolts.
-
if yours is a turbo steve then it will be the 3SGTE engine, same as the MR2's which were first made in 1989, so you might be able to wangle it somehow using that info if what emu said is right.
-
ive said it before but...what a load of swank!!!! its the best magazine around and there getting rid, brilliant!
-
im pretty sure it will have to stay for the MOT. must clear up what i said before, not all cars must have a cat to pass MOT, if its pre 1992(march i think)you can remove it and it will be ok, plus all cars that are import only, and all cars that were import only up until the date when there were made here. buy a de cat, they sell em on ebay for about 40quid, whatever you do DO NOT bash all the baffle from the cat cos your gonna need it for next year. ive known a friend to do that and he had to shell out a few hundred for a cat the next year.
-
mine hasnt got a cat and it passed, because all 32's are import only so they dont come up on the computer. gibson explained it nicely, if the car wasnt in the country then it wont come up on the computer until the car was first registered here. get a de-cat steve. you wont believe how must power it unlocks when you bin it!
-
depends if there import only. my R32 was only available through import and wasnt listed on the new computer. so what they have to do is tell the computer its a 2.0 litre with carbs, you can imagine the leeway i had with that, so it passed. but all cars must have a cat. what car is it steve???

what you hoping to study?

no problem chris, if theres ever a problem with the rovers it always headgasket. cos to be honest they rarely fail on a lot else. the bottom ends are surprisingly strong. if its started thats always good, and if it runs, even better. dont worry if it has a misfire that'll just be the water getting into the cylinders, especially bad on start ups. funnily enough we did 2 today at work. the one i worked on was particularly bad, i would always recommend water pump, stat and new bolts. v-tecs, one of the best engines ever ever ever!!!
-
sounds like you got it sorted guys. can i just recommend something, the 1900td heads do crack sometimes. maybe best to get it pressure tested too.
-
sent my mates sister a message saying 'id like to see you wearing nothing but a smile' only found out the next day after she read it out in the pub in front of everyone.
-
if theres mayo on the dipstick sounds like its got hot. have you checked the water bottle??? rovers will never ever tell you there overheating on the gauge, they will just do it and your left to foot the bill. prices. k16 - 600ish k16 vvc - 700ish i would recommend changing the pump and stat, also make sure the rad is ok. anything else bud?
-
mk2 boy, did you go racing today? saw a shitload of banger boys in the services(cant remember which one, very near dartford tunnel) at about 8.30ish???
