Ahhhh right so the engine has probably done it work then if its been in a race car Also ive spoken to the guy at naismith he said he remembers building an engine for a guy that raced fords and it was about 3 years ago do could more than likely be my eninge he said the guy lived in sanderstead so not far from where the guy lives who i got the engine from. So im guessing he brought it from the guy that raced it and its more than likely done its work am i right im saying that?

Nothing visible but its done lots more miles the core plugs have recently been changed (again) did have bolt and washers to hold them in now fitted with no new washers! Also things like the waterpump have been put on with loads of hermetite which is very bodgey in my opinion. Also inside the thermostat and water pump looks very rusty and i cant believe i didn't spot these bits when i looked at it also i shone a light through the spark plug hole and the pistons are dirty and black My Dad said if he had to guess he would say its done at least 60,000 miles

Also the guy at the engine builders said the only crossflows they built were 3 of them all for the same bloke who used to race fords so i am guessing this engine has been used for racing

Right my Dad has had a good look at the engine and theres no way its done 150 miles and the engine builder whos meant to have built it a year ago went 3 years ago ive phone him and im getting my money back tomorrow and hes getting his crappy engine back theres no way its worth that

What compression roughly should the engine be putting out with that spec as im going to connect and old gearbox and starter up and check the compression before i paint it all up

Picked up the engine last night and all is good just gonna get it out of my Dads van today and get it into the garage so i can give it a nice lick of paint and get it all ready to go in Anyway i will add some pictures later on for you all

I Need an alternator bracket for my MK1 Escort crossflow i only need the tensioning one which goes from the water pump to the alternator. I already have the one that bolts to the block so i wont be needing that one. If anyone's got one they want to sell please let me know as i need to get rid of this poxy dynamo and regulator set up as its been giving me grief for the last week now and wont charge the battery properly when the lights etc are on Anyway if anyone has one i would be so gratful for it as i am really stuck at the moment and this is my daily driver as well so i depend on it Anyway if you've got one let me know how much you want and i will buy it off of you Please PM me or reply below if you've got one

Could'nt i fit an electronic cut out switch like modern cars have i dont fancy being cooked if i do happen to crash

realy does getiing rid of the lame fane and fitting an electric is good for an extra 10 bhp I understand how taking off the fixed fan can increase BHP but as for the fuel pump how does that increase the power is it because the cam doesnt have to drive the mechanical pump?

I was but i cant really be bother cause the engine coming out soon to make way for my 1700 xflow I will fit an alternator to the engine then drop it in and wire it up

going to be picking it up one day next week another bonus is it has a burton rocker cover and another holbay lotus one which he's throwing in as well which im pretty sure is quite rare.

The fuel pump bit had a blanking plate over it and it did not have a normal fan he said he ran an electric fan

Hi My voltage regulator has packed up and ruined my battery so i dont want to fit a new battery until i get another regulator. Has anyone got a voltage regulator to fit a MK1 escort thats in good working condition that they done want. If anyones got one please let me know. Im not really sure the rocker cover one looks a bit oily but i guess thats normal also the engine has not been used for 6 months it had them bolts to hold the core plugs in so i guess it has been worked on and it is a high HP crossflow to have them. I said to him did they fit a new head gasket when they rebuilt it? He said i should hope so

Right went to look at the engine today the only thing that worries me is that it is meant to have been rebuilt but surely if it had been rebuilt by a proper company (Naismiths in Croydon) then surely they would have painted the engine Also he has not got any receipts for the work because he said he paid cash to avoid VAT. I am a bit unsure so could someone let me know if it should be freshly painted if its meant to have been rebuilt.
