Here we have an all original Ford Cortina MK5 2.0 GL Estate it has been standing since 1996 so needs a full restoration. The engine turns over freely but we have not had it running as it is missing the earth cable to the battery also the master cylinder is missing (this was the reason it was laid up almost 20 years ago) It never got repaired. The car is very complete and very original except for the wheels which are a period accessory the speedo reads 55,000 miles on the clock which we was told by the previous owner is genuine mileage. Obviously it needs a full restoration the interior needs to be taken out and valeted as do the carpets and interior trim etc but were pretty sure it will come up to a fair standard with some elbow grease. There is rust around the offside front bonnet hinge mount area which needs welding. doubtless this car will need welding in other places i just have not got the time to devote to it and would hate to see it get scrapped. The car rolls freely and the handbrake works and the clutch is not stuck as we checked this when towing it. This will need to be low loaded or trailered away as it has no brakes at all. £650 ono Please call: 07956-344226 Here are some pictures of the car:

Wheel Wobble and steering help .. please :)
72mk1escort replied to seaneylad's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
As already said check all bushes for movement/deterioration and also i had wheel wobble on mine above 50ish and worse under braking if its worse under braking could be the discs but that does'nt explain the skipping/jumping when on full lock? Thats more like a worn TCA bush or worn ball joint. Get someone to watch as you go full hard lock in a circle and see what's going on that is often a good test as if its something obvious you will spot it straight away using this method. -
I recently bought this car (about 2 months ago). Since owning it I have given it a service oil, filter and plugs etc. I have got it MOt'ed (Expires Jan 2016). The car is totally rot free there is no rust on this car due to being owned by an elderly man for many years and being garage kept. I bought the car from a man who cleared the elderly chaps garage out for him. The car runs and drives really well it has the later 205 block 2.0 pinto efi engine. The car is very original and unmolested it even has its original ford mats and original stereo. The car has done 64,000 miles and although there is no service history with the car you can see the mileage is genuine by the condition of the car. I have to sell this as I just have to many cars and not enough time to enjoy them all. The only downside to this car is it does have some car park dents and scratches. I have made no attempt to hide these and i have pictured all of these areas. I would rather people see the car how it is and not badly touched up/painted etc. This is a really good basis for a mint car as it is rust free it wouldn't take much to make the bodywork perfect again. I have tested everything on the car and it all works electric windows, central locking, clock/date computer etc. The interior is in excellent condition on the car as you can see in the pictures and it is really comfortable to sit in and drive. This is an everyday usable classic that will only go up in value and with a little bit of time and effort on the bodywork this could be a real mint car. As i said i have to sell it as since having it ive barely driven it as i just dont get time due to work commitments and owning two other classic fords. The car is MOT'ed & Taxed so can be test driven by anyone who is interested. here are some photos for you to look at: The car is Located in West Wickham Kent I am asking for £800 ono Call Peter on 07808-862786

PROOF OF BUILD DATE ON HEADED PAPER FOR FREE ROAD TAX
72mk1escort replied to 72mk1escort's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
The DVLA declined my application and have said they will need a letter from one of their approved clubs or Ford themselves. Just being fussy i think thanks for trying for me though mate. It was worth a go wasn't it If anyone needs to prove the build date of their car to the DVLA here is a link to their approved club list https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/list-of-vehicle-owner-clubs Maybe Oldskoolford can look into getting onto the approved list of clubs and then you could charge for the letter service to raise money for keeping the club going etc -

I need a big favour I need to send off to register my camper as a historic vehicle. It is a October 1973 build date which i worked out from the chassis code of: NK using the burton power chart http://www.burtonpower.com/tuning-guides/tuning-guide-pages/ford-manufacture-dates.html basically the dvla need something on headed paper from an enthusiasts club to say this is the case. If one of the admin can help me with this that would be brilliant as I cant seem to think of anywhere else i can get this sort of thing from. the vehicle is my 1974 Mk1 transit camper registration SNJ 141N with a build date of october 1973 from the chassis code of NK. I didnt know where to put this post so if it needs moving etc please feel free to do so. Thanks guys

Sheered off bolt in block whats the best way to remove it?
72mk1escort replied to 72mk1escort's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
Basically it snapped from the vibration of the engine/alternator bracket. It just broke the head off of the bolt leaving most of the thread in the hole. i managed to fix the problem today it was rusted in place and an easy out felt like it was going to snap so i slowly drilled it out using slightly bigger drill bits each time. Then i got it as close as i could but not enough to damage the thread in the block i then ran a tap down it to clear the last bits of the edge of the bolt. its all sorted now and all bolted up and nipped up fine so im chuffed to bits. Just hope it doesnt happen again lol. thanks for all of the advice guys
