Sheered off bolt in block whats the best way to remove it?
72mk1escort replied to 72mk1escort's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
that sounds like a good idea any advise on what make of easy outs to buy don't want them to snap easily -
My water pump bolt has somehow fractured on my cross flow its the one that holds the alternator bracket and watererpump to the block there isn't enough thread to nip it up so somehow ive got to get the broken bolt out of the block. I was hoping it can be done with the engine in the car by removing my rad etc for easier access. Ive got all the parts i need for the job a new water pump bolt and washer set from retro bolts and a new waterpump gasket etc. The thing i need advice on really is whats the best way to remove the sheered off bolt from within the block as Ive heard easy outs etc can snap off and leave you in a worse state. Ive got plenty of good drill bits and a good drill etc and a 45degree angle adapter for my drill so just really need a bit of guidance on how to tackle it as im scared about messing the block up if i get it wrong Any advise would be much appreciated. cheers guys

Good luck with everything mate. You've done a cracking job running the site and keeping the OSF scene going strong. I hope your still going to have your own OSF to tinker with

A re-introduction to the world of Antz
72mk1escort replied to antz's topic in NEW MEMBERS INTRODUCTIONS
welcome back Antz when i was doing up my MK1 you helped me along quite alot even when it was getting the better of me lol and im pleased to hear you still have your really neat looking mk2 escort and have the nice new 1700 xflow fitted. good to have you back mate. btw love the volvo i had a 940 turbo saloon 2.3 red block tuned it to around 180hp upping the boost and fuel pressure and it was great fun but i had to sell it as the fuel bills were killing me haha -
My dad had a 760 turbo volvo when i as younger it went like stink then my mate brought a 940 recently and for 250 quid he fittwd a 850 t5 turbo fuel pressure regulator and a bigger actuator bigger injectors now hes running around 250hp th car weighs 1400kg and it feels very rapid so imagine that power and torque in a mk1/mk2 escort that weighs around 850-950kg ish
-
I know this is really odd to say but ive always thought a 940 2.3 4 cylinder red block volvo turbo engine would go well in a rwd old ford and you can easily get 250hp with no trouble and would be very cheap to do and the engines are bullit proof. it would be cossie power for alot less money and its a stronger engine aswell

Here we have my Dads 1985 (B -Reg) MK2 Transit Autosleeper pop top roof camper van. My Dad brought this camper to tidy up and use in the summer. We have not had the time to do anything on it due to work commitments and so sadly it must go. The camper is MOT'ed until May 28th 2014 & Tax'ed until February 2014 and drives very well, we drove it all the way from Exeter in Devon to Bromley Kent (210miles)when we brought it and it didnt miss a beat. The camper has done 82,000 miles and isn't in bad condition for its age as you can see in the pictures. You could just use this as it is or it could be restored very easily with not to much work. It has a 1600 pinto engine and a 4 speed gearbox it went along the motorway easily at 70mph on our way home as it has the 4.53 diff as standard. This is the facelift model with the plastic front grill etc. The interior does need a bit of tidying and needs a fridge fitting as that is missing also the water needs plumbing in as the water tank needs refitting and the gas needs connecting up.I have all the curtains in a bag for it as i removed them as i was going to get my wife to make some new ones up. Also the table and pole is missing but these are cheap enough to replace. This is a 4 berth camper with 2 hammocks in the roof and a bed that is made using the front seats and rear seats. you can have 2 single beds or a double using different layouts depending on what you prefer. The pop top roof is in good condition and the cooker is nice and clean as is the sink unit. This will make a really nice camper with not alot of work. I am selling the camper as a rolling project its up to you weather you go for a complete restoration or just tidy it up and use it as it is which was my Dads intention. I am after £2000 ono for it. The camper is in Bromley Kent. Your more than welcome to test drive and view. here are lots of pictures i have taken of it: Any questions just send me a private message and i will get straight back to you. Im gutted that my Dad has decided to sell this as I have a MK1 Transit Canterbury camper and it would have been really good to turn up to shows with both campers. This is also for sale on the Ford Transit Forum.
