  1. just been out and tried that mate no joy run a bit of wire from the back of the switch plug to the fuse back of the correct connection on the back of the fuse panel and got all the lights back dipped and main beam and so i guess i will jus run a new live feed and loom tape it up neatly tomorrow, unless of course there is a relay hidden away somewhere that i cannot find, thanks for all your help
  2. ive tried the plugs on the back of the fuse box is there a plug on the gromet part that goes through the bulkhead then?
  3. Ive checked that mate cleaned all connections and put new fuses in whole fuse panel, still not joy there seems to be no power at the end of the loom which connects to the fuse panel but the switch is sending power down thats what makes me think there is a relay somewhere under the dash or something
  4. Hi chaps Took the mk1 out for a drive last night was going down a nice dark country road and i lost all my dipped headlights my sidelights still work and flash works but no dipped head and therefore no main beam either. ive check the switch and the switch is ok i have got power at the switch end but not at the end where it enters the fuse box if i bridge the connection to a live one of the fuse panel the dipped head lights come on so it must be a problem between the headlamp switch and fuse panel. Im pretty sure all cars have a relay for the dipped headlights/main beam just wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction before i start pulling the car apart lol I did try to read the wiring diagram in the haynes manual but i got a head ache after about 5 mins any help would be much appreciated.

  10. Well chuffed with adrian flux insured my MK1 transit camper for £809 for the year, 1 years ncb, 21 years old, mum and dad named as drivers,5000 agreed value, 4000 miles a year cant recommend them enough to you guys well impressed, excellent customer service to
  11. I saw a mk2 cortina at the wingspan meet and it seemed to use the injection from the earlier zetec engine like the rs1800i fiestas use the alley inlet manifold with the idle valve right up the top in front of you. At a guess you would need the ecu, loom, key and pick up,throttle position senson, idle control valve, cam sensor and all other sensors to be honest mate and then wire it all up into your car.
  12. Hi mate i use valvoline 20/50 VR1 racing oil its great for old engines and i swear by it alot of guys on here run it with out any trouble. You get 4.55L in a bottle i think im pretty sure one would be enough you can buy it from euro car parts or most local motor factors expect to pay around £20-£25 depending on where you go.
  13. no need to buy one now then mate
  14. If you want my opinion mate you should head for the battery if its draining fast and only does it if left for an hour or so. The only other thing it could be is something on the car is draining the power. Get yourself a multimeter under a tenner from halfords get the car running at around 900rpm ticking over the charge should be around 13.5-14.5V if its less than this then the alternator or wiring could be faulty if voltage all ok let it run for a good 20mins and then turn off. and then keep an eye on the voltage on the multimeter and see how quick it drops if it drops off quick its the battery the other thing you can do to check if something on the car is draining the power is to take the positive terminal off and tap it on the connection on the battery if theres a large spark then you have something draining it but make sure you do this test with everything on the car off. Hope this helps you let me know how you get on if you want any advice drop me a PM
  15. I think im gonna give it a miss the guy brought it off another guy but he assures me the head is a work of art etc but he does not know if its been converted for unleaded which worries me
  16. hey guys been offered an unused crossflow cylinder head machined and ported etc by Paul Fisher its never been used and is un run still has the preserving oil on it. the work carried out is as follows: work was carried out by Paul fisher as you would except too a very very high standard, work includes new inlet and exhaust valves the sizes are inlet 41.2mm and exhaust 34.5mm, bronze valve guides, double valve springs etc. the price is £400 just wondered if its a good deal also does bronze valve guides mean it can run on unleaded.
  17. Weld them on mate that's how Ford's done it keep it original and when you come to sell if you ever do you wont have any problems doing so
  18. Asked for that one didnt i
  19. Mine was doing that mate and turnt out to be the rings but check the PCV valve first which goes into the (coffin box) breather system make sure its not blocked or stuck also clean out the coffin box and then try it mate
  20. Pretty sure cant use existing runners mate as mine are not conventional ones they are strange things that early mk1 escorts have LOL the universal runners that dont have built in subframes would sit to close to the floor and o wouldnt be able to see over the steering wheel lol. I recon i need something more like these ones mate: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UNIVERSAL-CAR-BUC ... _728wt_905 what do people think would the above do the job pricey but would rather have the right bits than bodge seats in
  21. Hey guys its my 21st today got some bucket seats from mum and dad they got them from ratsport and ordered their runners with them but the problem is they are going to sit to low to the floor with these runners or need adapting/raising to fit properly. What i wondered is has someone on here fitted these seats: http://shop1.actinicexpress.co.uk/shops ... mp_pic.jpg into a mk1 escort and if so which runners or subframes did you use etc. If someone has a link to the bits to fit the seats that would be brilliant. any help would be really appreciated. Cheers Guys
