  1. Thanks everyone I thought I might get shown the door as she's not a british Ford but I'm really pleased that I'm still welcome Cheers Sean.
  2. Cool.Hope to see you there then Love the sig too
  3. Yep.Would really like to get to that. But probabaly only on the Sunday. Is Leon running the Mex up there? Sean.
  4. Is that the Classic Ford weekend?
  5. I know nothing about it mate,I thought it looked more sixteis too but the guy I bought it off has owned it for 20 years and he bought it from the original owner and he says it's a '72. Plus I've found some pics of '72 Australian cars and they are defo the same as mine.So I guess Ford must have shipped out all the run out stock to Oz and SA when the model finished in the States. But if anyone knows different please do let me know. Cheers Sean.
  6. Cheers I'm really lovin it too Souds like you'll have the Prefect on the road pretty quick too,if you get your way Sean.
  7. Very Lovin that Viva GT.Sorry.
  8. Built in South Africa in '72 and imported into this country in '73 from what the previous owner has told me and he was the second owner.I think they were a bit behind the Yank models so it looks like the late sixties's Americans. From what I've read so far it's the same as the Austrailian cars.Could be wrong though. Cheers Sean.
  9. Cheers mate But the engine stays
  10. Sorry mate.Missed this one.But now I'm back on the road I'd be up for it I'm in Eye,near Diss so not far from you.Anyone else? Old Fords do seem to be a bit thin on the ground around here Sean.
  11. Ooooooh yes
  12. Cheers guys. She's a 1972 Ford Fairlane 500.Thats a 351cui(5.75ltr)V8 .Sounds bloody awesome.I've been driving about all day with a stupid grin on my face every time I pass a building I have to have the window down.Think I'll drive down to Dartford tomorrow so I can spend all day going through the tunnel
  13. So the Prefect will be off to a new home soon and the reason for her leaving is sitting on my drive now Now she is a Ford and very old skool.Right hand drive as well but built in South Africa.Does that mean I have to leave now What do you think?
  14. Nice one mate.Pretty much the same spec as mine. Sean.
  15. Sorry mate I wish it was the lid but what I ment was the channel on the car that runs round the boot opening. The channel has rusted right through so it will need a U shaped peice welded into the bodywork Looks like a nightmare job but it is the only bad bit.I have already found a good pair of rear doors which were the other major problem area. So all in all not too bad.I will try and get the car out of the garage and put up some update pics in the resto section when I get a chance. Thanks for checking that out for me anyway. All the best Sean.
  16. Thanks matey - I think more than bad luck I was just in denial about it. Good luck with you're rubbing down - have you found any nasty surprises under the paint yet? Not at all,she really is solid. All I've found so far are a couple of small repair patches to the floor which look pretty old and I think I will probably cut them out and put some better ones in and the worst bit is the lip around the boot which has rotted out along the top edge. That looks like a pretty tricky repair so I will get some help with that. Other than that no welding required All the best Sean.
  17. Thats real bad luck mate But if it makes you feel any better I'm still rubbing mine down. Now that really is a pain in the arse. Hope you get it sorted ok. Sean.
  18. Cheers Leonmex. Thats a long way round for you mate but thanks for the offer.Have to see how things progress and I would love a spin in that Mk1,it looks the nuts! 340truck. I know the Bunbury arms and as you say probabaly a good pub, easy to find and a huge car park but its a long way for the guys from Cambrigeshire way. I should be passing that way at some point next week so could drop in and see if they are ok with the idea or not. Let me know your opinions or other ideas folks. Sean.
  19. Would I be shot if I turn up in a modern car? As there is no way the Prefect will be on the road by then.Otherwise, where are you in Suffolk leonmex? Sean.
  20. Wish I had the cash. It sold a couple of weeks back for £6800.I guess the sale fell through. Sean.
  21. I'm in Eye Suffolk, midway between Norwich and Ipswich.Don't mind a bit of a drive either,if that helps. Sean.
  22. A meet in Bury sounds great. I'm only 1/2 an hour away,my cars off the road too but I'm in if it takes off. Sean.
  23. Ditto everyone else That just looks so right.
