  1. sorry mate. These are the ones i used, got them from burton http://www.burtonpower.com/ls230.html
  2. Bushes i used were the standard cortina mk2 series 2. The capri uses the same ones anyway, 2.8. I used Poly bushes proper ones not the cheap ones (tried them pain in the bum), fit straight in no headaches. edit: forgot to say you need the rear shackles burton sell them. They are wider for the leaf 60mm and narrower at the chassi so bolt up with no mods.
  3. i put Capri single leafs on mine, brand new. They are alittle stiffer than our Cortina ones and do raise the back. Its easier to buy the springs from Gartrac and have them decamber them by 2". I still used 2" lowering blocks to get the arse on the floor. Works a treat and not hard to do. Look in BSC im going to put write up. I did mine 3 weeks ago.
  4. Hello, I need to buy some sheet metal for work on the car, from 1mm to say 3mm thickness. I have no idea where to get this from, im around Feltham/Heathrow area any ideas? Thanks
  5. Ive got a 1.8 16v. was a 1 owner with 47k full renault history till i got it. I let my brother drive it since we got it, and if you need to change the cambelt engine out, and if the clutch needs changing engine out. We've had it over 3 years and done about 20k, and its good. Like anything they have little problems But they are an awesome little car, loads of fun to drive great in the corners and they aint slow. The clutch pedal is the ratchet type which is crap gives a very heavy pedal, the spring on the pedal loses its tension, the teeth on the ratched wear (comes as a complete pedal) and the clutch cable can become sticky as its close to the manifold, clutch fork can bend. If your changing the clutch modify, go the reanult5 setup saves alot of agro trust me. Engines like to run hot, has an electric water pump that comes on when the engine is turned off and switches the fan on to. The exhaust will be mega hot for ages after the cars turned off. I got this as p/x from my customer for £300 12 months mot and 10 months tax. Changing the oil filter is abit fiddly not alot of room. I think there good cars.
  6. I had a similar problem a few years back. I sold cars for a main dealer and you will earn over 35k once you get into the swing of things on the plus side you get a new car every 3-6 months. And i love cars, moderns not so much but it puts food on the table and money in your pocket.
  7. I watched it last night, have to admit Very eye opening. Im spreading the word to !

    Little Rant

A friend use to work in a school, bcos of equal opportunities they have to advertise the position in the paper or net or where ever. But they already knew who they were putting in the position even if they had 100 applicants and 30 interviews. It was a fix everytime, thats how they got there jobs !
  11. Took some advice and will take pics of any one that comes close to the car so the cameras at the ready. Im now taking care of my mates Big staff crossed with god know what. He's lives in my garden now.
  12. Did my best to get him gone asap, told as little as possible without seeming evasive, basically told him a load of the round ones and i think he bought it. Im sleeping in the car for a few nights
  13. Unfortunetly not mate, its stuck with me at home lol
  14. Evening all. Ive been working on the car all day, and had a pikey come by was looking in everyones gardens and walkng all the streets my road is a dead end. Any hows he asked me a million and one questions about my car like Value, what ive done to it, what ive spent on it, what needs doing, whats wrong with it, has it got mot and tax. Then he took a seat on the drivers seat turned steering about, engine was running and revved it! I did not like this so kindly told him get out. Then he asks if im selling it, why wont i sell, what would make me sell it. I just said its very shabby and rust all over not worth a bean really, its more for giving me something to do than anything. The one that got me was, can i take it for a drive mate, well like no. I wont steal it promise you can sit beside me, I dont think so. I was polite to him, didnt know quite what to make of him, then a neighbour tells me he been walking all the roads in the area looking in everyones gardens. Its got me abit paranoid now, she all alarmed up and stuff and gear + steering lock and blocked in by another car. Im going to put her on axle stands and take of the wheels and steering wheel. Best to be on safe side. p.s hes white, about 5'8-10", waering cream top and trousers, ginger hair medium length spikey and scar on left cheek and pikey accent but not strong. Didnt see any cars or vans he seemed to be on foot patrol
  15. Are you on IFS or a beam? If you have a beam up front, tow off that, of if you have leaf springs up front, tow off that. You are Bangar of BSC with a Mk2 right? Hello Fred yep its me lol, i just towed on the arb next to the mount had no choice really, strange thing it helped with the car pulling to the right ! p.s saw the van at the pod but no sign of you mate to say hello
  16. Broke down on the m25 from a40 on the way up, luckily i had my mate in his Big iveco van. funny thing its got no tow point so strapped it round the rear step was bout 6 feet from the back of the van. went home fixed car got to the pod for 8, should of been there at 3. Had a great time tho, almost threw in the towl when it broke (spent 3 solid days getting it ready in time 4the pod) but glad i didnt.
  17. im gonna give it a try, probably blow up tho lol
  18. I like em There well fun to drive
  19. put me down, im up for it
  20. i got an electric da, got it from BandQ, its a Mac Allistar. Takes the larger discs same as bodyshops. You can vary the speed to. Its never let me down, i used it for the whole car when i did a respray.
  21. I bought vibrating cake's old pug wheels, and to be honest not had any problems, v8ians right in saying they use the studs and nuts to make them centralised on my mk2 cortina they cant be hub centric. I used flat sleeve nuts with longer studs, all i did was cut abit of the nut off facing the hub (because the nut bottoms out on the stud). But im only spacing 5mm on rear.
  22. Im coming. Will be camping to, bringing the lads and with food and plenty of booze
