  1. My Capri is having elecy problems at the mo, wonder if anyone has any ideas; In daylight it runs fine, all instruments work as they should, and interior lights work as normal (when doors opened etc). Few weeks ago had a slight burning smell from behind dash, but all looks ok on rear of cluster, all fuses seem ok. After dark however, with headlights 'ON', fuel gauge goes off top, but temp gauge stays accurate until after the engine is warmed up (then joins fuel gauge off top). Have tried a brand new volt stabliser, but makes no difference. Now I've noticed if I switch headlights 'ON' when driving, everything (radio, engine, the lot!) all dies for a split second, before coming back to life. Have tried a good headlight switch (steering column) and no difference. I'm thinking something common to lighting and ignition circuits, but need more advice on this. Any ideas peeps? Ta.
  2. Is it still showing those underbody illuminations? Presume the cabbage has departed mate?
  3. and another thing - did u also know the Capri bonnet stay rod grommet thingy can also still be bought brand new. Yep, it's another item now produced for the KA!
  4. Hi guys, any chance of getting a booking for this still? Be up for it if so.
  5. good on ya m8! Let someone else doing that other driving! I'm going to aim to be at Esher for 6.30 ish (OSF kick off time), then head down to Chessy for 8 or so.
  6. Count me in. Also got Capri meet down at Chessy that night. Nothing for it, will just have to do both!
  7. Yep, that sounds good. Have the Surrey Capri meet up the road in Chessy on 2nd Tues of the month (same night as Esher Cortina lot!), so worth steering clear of those two nights.
  8. Don't let the b*gg**s grind you down mate. I look at like this; a guy I work with runs a merc (SLK whatever!), and gets the hump that he has to pay £500 odd quid just to have it serviced! Always puts a smile on my boat race when I can service my Capri for well less than a ton!
  9. C u at the Harrow m8 (assuming I get up in time!). Could be a bit of a session 2nite!
  10. They say things happen in three's! Best to leave it for a bit may be? Happened to my cabbage (Brookie) a while back. Driving down sideway, the door mirror clouts the concrete posts, next I swing in too far over and scrape the left wing (on another of the dreaded posts), and last of all reversed down drive, missed my stop mark and hit the garage front wall ! All minor stuff (the bumper needed replacing), but I could have kicked myself ! Shouldn't really mention all that, as it may be up for sale soon (need wedge for my mortgage), but it's all fixed now. Should be at Boxhill on Saturday if anyone might be interested?
  11. Try Mercury motors at Twickenham (020 8892 0337). Sure they'll be able to tell you.
  12. a Mk2 1600 GL, in that mid green, SLR 645 R. Sold it (wish I hadn't!) back in 1990. Anyone recognise the reg, just wondering if it's still around?
  13. Just to be utterley ZZzzzzz!, technically there wasn't a 'Mk3'. Ford produced the 'Series 1' (Mk1), and then the 'Series 2' (Mk2). The shell of the 'Series 2' went on to be the basis of what we all know as the Mk3, basically a Mk2 with plastic bits added, and a slight redesign of the headlamp/bonnet leading edge area. I think the Mk2's can look a bit bland, but as I learnt to drive in one, I don't mind them. Think they were only built between '74 and '78.
  14. I used one from an outfit called 'cover systems' I think, you'll have to check it out on a googley, can't remember their number. Word of advice though, if your motor's got a good two pack paint, then shouldn't be any probs, but I used my cover on my Capri (which had been resprayed with a water based paint - that's the norm now apparently from many bodyshops - health and safety or something?), and when the wind pulled it over the wing edges the paint started to fade where the cover rubbed.
  15. Yeah, should be up for that.
  16. Heard about this one a while ago. What time does it kick off mate?
  17. Yeap, up for that. Lazer Rob.
