  1. Ideally (as Paul mentioned) for road use you want as setting that will lock when you are powering, and unlock when you are off power so the differential does it's job by letting the wheels turn independently. As for an ATB, pass, I have never used one myself as I have been using plate type LSD's for years with no issues. PS- BigBubba, it seems you have been a victim of the "off the shelf LSD" myth. Buy a plate type LSD from Burton's and it's sure to make horrible noises when turning corners at low speed due to excessive static preload intended for race cars with big sticky tyres. They need to be setup correctly for their intended use and if that is "fast road", it won't be any noisier than an open diff
  2. HI-Spec do a 6pot caliper that fit under 13's, might be worth a call!!!
  3. Although nothing to do with your wiper motor, I can confirm we received your engine today Barry
  4. I downloaded a copy from a BitTorrent website! 2011 version! The site I used was called isohunt
  5. As the old saying goes, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is
  6. Accuspark is ok if you want something cheap and cheerful! We away towards H&H which is a much nicer setup and the advance curve is specced to suit the engine. Bestek is also good
  7. 2000E box has best ratios if you can find one in good nick. 1600 sport also has nice ratios but a little fragile if you want to give it a hard time. As mentioned, the easiest way to improve acceleration is change the final drive ratio!
  8. What size splines in the spool mate?
  9. You can make anything work mate, but it's just how well you want it to drive. Too bigger carbs on something that doesn't require that amount of fuel/flow will result it bad drive ability. I think if you have a 1300 you should just get a down draft carb for now and just save your pennies until you can afford to get the engine you want. The advice I would give for someone buying a supposed decent spec engine is to check if the spec is true. If someone won't let you remove the sump and head before purchasing then maybe it is not what they are saying it is or even if it is, is it worth the risk buying it to maybe find out it's not what it said on the tin?!
  10. Hi there, we have a nearly new English LSD unit here for sale for £350
  11. To be on the safe side it is worth taking 1/4" off the end of a Sierra type 9 input shaft. You can do this yourself if you are careful with an angle grinder with a thin cutting disc. Just make sure you put a nice chamfer back on the end to help guide it into the spigot bearing. 45's will be overkill on a standard engine but if you plan on upgrading it in the future it would be worth buying 45's now and fitting smaller chokes as Steve mentioned. 2.5-3K would be a stretch if you wanted new carbs/manifold etc but 3.5K should cover it along with a spec capable of 140ish BHP! If you are tempted to buy 2nd hand carbs just be careful as most will need a good rebuild if they have been sat for a while! Sometime it's false economy!
  12. I would also recommend Torques UK for the aeroquip type fittings. Quality and price is very good. I believe the size you need for standard replacement pipe is 5/16 or 8mm!
  13. The pleasure is all ours mate!!! And don't worry, we will get it to fit that anglia!!!
  14. Is it snapping in the same place every time?
